PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT - Taxi Fraud Scam Police are seeing a new scam happening in Ontario. It involves a fake taxi driver arguing with a fake customer about cash not being accepted as payment for the fare. It is hoped that an innocent bystander will overhear and offer to pay the fare with their own debit card in exchange for cash. The PIN is captured and a similar fake bank card is given back to the victim (along with cash for the fare). The suspects then have the v...ictim's actual debit card and PIN to make a number of fraudulent purchases/withdrawals. See TPS News Release for details http://torontopolice.on.ca/newsreleases/48496 If this has happened to you, notify your financial institution immediately and report the crime to police. #Fraudscams #fraud #fraud2020 #taxi #Toronto #TO #CrimePrevention ^lh
