Tracks 17.11.2020

Caylin and Seth are working together on some projects for TRACKS (stay tuned!). In the meantime here's some information about a workshop we delivered together last weekend.

Here? How are we going to do it here? When nature programs are often thought to need vast "wild" spaces, how can you deliver something with a patch of grass and... a chain link fence? The short answer is, you have to shift your perspective... and get creative. Cities are where most people live and so we need to consider them in programs that connect people to nature... My friend Seth and I will be delivering a workshop in a week on Saturday Sept. 19th 11am-12:30pm where we'll share our experiences and some tips for designing accessible programs for diverse, urban populations. Hope you can join us! And if not, no problem - you can pre-purchase access to the recording. Follow this link for more info: https://forestschooled.podia.com/urban-nature NOTE: Registration for the live workshop will close on Thursday Sept 17th, or when all spaces have been filled, whichever comes first!

When I decided (or rather it feels like the universe decided) to turn Forest Schooled into my main work, and business, I wasn’t sure what form it would take. I ...DID NOT anticipate that I would be offering online professional learning events, consultancy, and mentorship. And yet here I am finding it utterly rewarding. But my first love is the land. And being outdoors creating communities of learning with others. It’s why I started Tracks back in 2018, to deliver on-the-ground programming. But TRACKS has been dormant since I moved over a year ago... and this week it’s stirring back to life. Plans are forming and I’ll share more soon. It is SO DIFFERENT from anything I’ve ever done. But I have never felt more sure of where things are headed.... send me your positive vibes as I start this next venture #forestschool #notforestschool #thisisdifferent #andimportant #accessandequity

You may start to notice a few changes to this page! We have some potential project/program ideas brewing and will make announcements soon. In the meantime, I want to thank those who've followed this page since we first started up in Keene, New Hampshire in 2018, and have stuck with us as we've adjusted to quite a few changes (including a move to Canada) over the past year and a half. Looking forward to sharing our evolution with you all!

Want to learn more about place-based and inclusive storytelling with me? There's a couple ways you can do this! 1. I'm hosting an online interactive workshop t...his Saturday June 27th, 2-3:30pm. There are just a few places left and I'll be closing registration by end of day Thursday (tomorrow). 2. Can't make the workshop? You can have access to a partial recording which will give an introduction and overview, as well as point you towards some additional resources. Both of these offerings can be purchased on my e-learning platform (financial support is available in the form of pay-as-you-can if you need it - just reach out!) https://forestschooled.podia.com/storytelling Description: Caylin is passionate about incorporating storytelling into her programs and enjoys telling/creating stories that are rooted in the places and communities within which she works to make them rich and meaningful for her learners. She's been working hard to co-develop resources with other story-telling practitioners around what it means to be place-based and inclusive in our outdoor programs and have found storytelling to be a powerful and potent tool to celebrate diversity as well as help learners gain a sense of place. This online workshop and introduction video will explore some of the ways we can weave our own communities and experiences into the stories we share with our communities. P.S. You can access a 20% off discount for the workshop by watching our Becoming a Storyteller video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uf119rBFmYs
