I am looking ahead to brighter days in 2021. This has been a challenging year and certainly one for the record books. Throughout the challenges in 2020, our resiliency, our generosity and our capacity to give back have shone through. Thank you, Alberta. #BecauseYouMatter

The global COVID-19 pandemic, worldwide economic recession and the collapse in oil prices have devastated Alberta’s finances, and money is tighter than it has been in a generation. Tough decisions must be made now so that Alberta’s government can continue to provide programs and services to Albertans. The government is seeking input from Albertans on how we can work together to get Alberta out of debt and back on the path to a prosperous future.... Visit www.alberta.ca/BudgetConsultation to have your say.

Associate Minister of Red Tape Reduction Grant Hunter introduced Bill 48, Red Tape Reduction Implementation Act (No.2), to save our job creators even more time and money. It’s critical we make it as easy as possible for businesses to operate, create jobs and drive Alberta’s economy forward. If this legislation is passed, job creators will see faster approvals and cost savings. Read More: https://www.alberta.ca/release.cfm

Thank you to Paul and Coreen Evaskevich for the historic donation to create the Evaskevich Centre for Health Research and Innovation at Grande Prairie Regional College GPRC. The state-of-the-art facility, located in the College wing of the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, will be dedicated to research surrounding rural, northern, and Indigenous health benefitting new and existing health care programming. The increase in Covid-19 positive cases in Grande Prairie has triggered the City of Grande Prairie's Mandatory Mask Bylaw. This will come into effective on Monday, October 26th. Wearing a mask, along with social distancing, good hand hygiene, and staying home when sick are all measures we must all take to slow down the spread of this virus. ... Let's all do our part to keep our vulnerable population safe.

Congratulations to the City of Grande Prairie for attracting the PBR Canada finals to our great community. This is welcome news as it will create economic activity in the region. The athletes will be staying in our hotels, eating in our restaurants, and shopping at our local businesses.

Albertans can now speak up about provincial firearms policy and the federal government’s gun grab. Thank you to Minister Ric McIver for privatizing class 4, 5 and 6 road tests in order to give Albertans quicker and better access in communities across the province. Privately-delivered passenger road tests will reduce wait times because examiners can work outside regular government hours to meet demand. Read more: https://www.alberta.ca/release.cfm

Getting immunized is more important now than ever before. It’s the best way to protect your health and the health of your friends and neighbours. Pharmacies and doctors are taking a lead role this year in providing them for anyone five years and older. To get your shot, simply contact a local pharmacy or doctor’s office to book an appointment to get immunized free of charge. If you have a child under five, you can book an appointment for everyone in your house through Alberta Health Services. Parents can visit ahs.ca/influenza to find more information about how to book an appointment.

I joined the Danielle Smith show today to discuss the Assessment Model Review. The changes strike the right balance between industry competitiveness and municipal viability. Thank you to all the stakeholders for their partnership in creating a solution that helps all Albertans. #BecauseYouMatter

Tracy Allard 05.08.2020

Alberta’s government has announced changes to the Assessment Model Review. We are striking the balance between industry relief and municipal viability, which has allowed the Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA), Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, The Explorers and Producers Association of Canada and CEPA - about pipelines to support this policy. Alberta’s government will provide companies a three-year tax break on new drills, which will create jobs in communities across the province. Alberta’s government is also eliminating a well-drilling tax, and reducing assessments on less productive wells to reflect their value and maintain their viability. I want to thank all stakeholders for their engagement during this thorough review.

It was an honour to spend time with my friend and colleague Minister Dale Nally on Wednesday. Thanks to the St. Albert and District Chamber of Commerce for inviting us to talk about creating investment in our province. I feel the most compassionate thing we can do for Albertans is to create jobs for them and that’s exactly what Alberta’s Recovery Plan is doing. #BecauseYouMatter
