Last trailers to be serviced in 2020.
Nice views from my workplace this morning.
Today I have converted these 3 to Euro 8 pin plugs.Extra pin for reverse lights.
Today's work was to remove the old bulbed type side/corner marker lights on 2 trailers and replace with LED lights.8 lights in total. To include some fault finding and rectification work.
Yes,I know I am more expensive than the last guy that fitted new brake shoes to your trailer. But there is a reason for that. That top spring should be on the inside. So I will remove everything and start again.Thats why I am more expensive. I know what I am doing.
So,first job today was to service a fridge in a caravan to include a new burner and jet assy. Upon removal of the fridge I was faced with this.Oh bloody dear Mr diy has been here.Main Gas feed steel pipe cut to burner and non approved hose and car petrol filter inserted.Boom.Needless to say,im going back next week with new parts to rectify this explosive situation.
More Brake work today. New Antonio squel brake shoes, new drums. Also gound a broken spring with one end hook snapped off.
Lovely view from my office this morning. Big boys toys to work on. In 30 years thus is the first of thus Manufacture for me. Habitation Service and fit a new Burner and Jet assy to the fridge due to incorrect combustion whilst on gas.
Back on Motorhomes today.Clean and easy job to start the week.
Today took me to this beast of a trailer. 5 hours electrical work to get all 28 lights working. This trailer covers in excess of 20,000 miles per year. Back in a couple of days to overhaul the braking system.
Oops. What a mess.Yes it all fell apart upon inspection. All pull off springs stretched beyond useless. New Shoes and hardware New brake drums with bearings.
Fitting a Solar Panel today. As my client uses it to charge his battery whilst away with his steam engine.
Not too many of these left as tow cars.
Next job took me to investigate the clients report of caravan not towing too good and a noise from the brakes. Upon investigation, excessive handbrake travel told me the linings were no more. Remove brake drum to find return spring excessively stretched and brake shoe hanging off.Linings worn right down to shoe. I suspect this caravan has been towed with the handbrake on. Gonna be expensive.
My job was to rescue this trailer from the ground, literally.New hubs, bearings etc.New wheels and tyres.
One of today's jobs took me to Farmoor Reservoir to resurrect a very dead trailer that needed to accompany its boat to Devon.More pics to follow. This place is a graveyard for dead boats and trailers it seems. There are hundreds abandoned.

Nice service today.Caravan not been serviced in 20 years. Brake drums have never been removed. So when I removed them the lining fell on the floor. Needless to say the tyres are also 20 years old.
My views at work this morning. Couldnt be a lot better.

Morning campers.
Big or small we do them all. These small motorhomes have nice spec and appear to be well made.
On the big boys this morning.
Makes a change to White.
It was good to get back in the saddle again today. Its been a while.
I hope you can see the difference in Tyre sizes.I know the wheels are different. One is a 8ply rated tyre, and one really is not.A difference of over 300kg weight capacity. These were fitted on a Caravan I serviced today. Not good.
Yes,yes, yes, the Sun is is out go play.
TFIF.What a miserable week it has been.
My office window today.A bit a class.
Seat belts I have had made to my spec fitted to Tina E today. New webbing and inertia reels. But keeping the original hardware.
Bit of down time today whilst waiting for parts to arrive. So today,I have fitted new seats belts to my Cortina 1600E that I have had made to my spec.
Nice customer loyalty.Serviced his c/van now for 10 years.
Following on from yesterday.Last trailer goday, was a single axle Boat Trailer. Spare tyre was 19 years old and only fit for scrap.
Wheels Wednesday today. More Trailers. Keep an eye on the date of your tyres. These tyres today are well out of date. You can see the excessive splits in between the treads.... [email protected] See more
After a great weekend of playing hard,it was back to the grind stone today.
Motor Home electrical fault finding today. Diagnosed and sorted.
Something a bit different today. Service a Billy Burstner.2005 and still no damp.
VW Rectification work today.Im not as flexible as I once was for working in tight awkward cupboards. But we got there.
Well, thats the first service of 2020 finished.Good to be out again. Although it is a horrible cold wind.
During our quiet periods,Garry has been transforming the Cortina engine. But,now its time to down tools in the garage for a while. Back to work for a Caravan service, and a Gas Leak on a VW conversion.
When not working,I spend a lot of my time, working on and keeping, very very clean my 59 Ford Skyliner. Just a quick peep. Will be out to play for Easter 2020.
This job I lost.Because the owner thought I was unreasonable not to want to repair the Brakes on his Trailer where it was. Oh well!!! Yoh cant win them all.My standards are a too high to be gtovelling around in that crap.
Guess I wont be servicing these Trailers just yet.
