Here is the motivation and reason why Glen is running this year's GoByBike event here in Trail. His goal is to make sure everyone is safe while on their bike from the youngest to the oldest!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for GoByBike week! The draw for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday's prizes will be tomorrow. Did you know you can ride your bike from Trail to Rossland without going on the highway? The South Kootenay Green Link signs can show you the way! Here's one of the signs with a Gerick sports scavenger hunt sign beside it. You can find the route on Trailforks.com now too. Thanks to the Rossland Sustainability Commission for making this off-highway route easier to find.

Fun infrastructure fact: Did you know that the skywalk received almost $1M in funding from the bc active transportation grant? There are 3 scavenger hunt signs hidden around this awesome piece of active transportation infrastructure. Thanks to Gerick Sports for sponsoring this scavenger hunt for GoByBike week!

We're giving a West Kootenay Cycling Coalition shirt to everyone in the Greater Trail area who becomes a WKCC member during GoByBike week! Becoming a member is a great way to show that you support improvements to cycling infrastructure in the Kootenays. You can become a member at https://westkootenaycycling.ca and remember that GoByBike week ends on Sunday, October 4!

It's a beautiful day to go for a bike ride, look for some of the @gerickstrail scavenger hunt signs, and listen to my kids complain about how hungry, tired, hot, and thirsty they are while I bribe them with treats so they will bike an extra 100 meters and we can get some pictures!

Me and my kids can cross a 4 lane highway during the after work rush without seeing a single car, and the cars don't have to wait for me to herd my 3 kids over the crosswalk. That's what makes active transportation infrastructure a win-win for both bikes and cars.

To celebrate GoByBike week, we’ve teamed up with Gerick Sports- Trail B.C. to bring a scavenger hunt game to the cyclists of Trail. On Sunday September 27, we’ll be placing signs around town near different pieces of active transportation infrastructure, and we’ll leave them there until October 4 for people to try and find. Will you be able to find all of the signs around town? If you find a sign, you can be included in the draw for local prizes by taking a picture of yourself... or your bike with the sign and then either posting it to our "Go By Bike Trail Facebook page, or on Instagram and tagging @wkccglen. If you’re not a fan of social media, you can also e-mail the picture to [email protected] Remember to be wearing your helmet in the picture so that we know you are biking around safely! Active transportation infrastructure in Trail is the tunnels, bridges, underpasses, and bike routes that make it easier for cyclists to get around Trail quickly and safely. To keep the hunt safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, the signs will be placed in a way that will be easy for multiple scavenger hunters to take a picture at the same time while maintaining physical distancing.
