Trails of Summer Day Camp

Hello dear families and staff. For those of you who have been with us since the beginning [ most of you] I am posting a little thought and memory about our little Ellie who was with us 5 summers ago and passed in the fall of that year.Ellie had the best summer of her little life at Trails of Summer. Every one of our staff took turns loving on her and making each day the absolute best. She taught us more then we could have ever imagined as did her mom Elisa and dad Chris.We fe...lt honored that her parents trusted her safety and care with us. All the children adored being with her and treated her like a little toy doll. What brave hero's are her mom and dad.She loved being jostled around and every time we pushed her stroller over a tree stump, she would grin with pure joy. We will remember Ellie with love. We all were blessed with spending precious time with a true angel. We know you are watching us every summer Ellie and we love and miss you. See more

Hello dear families and happy Canada day. For those families who have staff coming to their homes, I hear things are going splendidly well. I am so happy for the children, parents and the staff. Respite is a wonderful thing for everyone. I hope everyone of our "trail mixes" are doing well and managing through these times. Little by little things are opening up but of course we must be careful where ever we can.We realize that our children can hardly social distance especially when they are loving on their staff! Hand washing to fun kiddie songs work well for our guys and gals. I think of you all every single day as we continue to plan some upcoming surprises for all. Stay tuned and have a great day!

My dear families of 2020. Times have been so uncertain and information on summer programs have been confusing at best. I know I have been in touch with most of you but indeed Trails of Summer is now "Trails on the go". Groups together are not safe!!!! Our best and safest alternative is to offer you a shadow for the summer to come to your homes. Understandably some of you have opted out as health and safety of your children is paramount. With fragile immune systems even havin...g the same person coming and going each day is a risk. Just because the sun is shinning, does not mean we are out of the woods. Social distancing for our little ones and teens lasts but 30 seconds before everyone moves closer and closer. I see it every day with adults. They start 2 meters apart and then end up 2 feet apart as they become deep in conversation. Our plans for this summer were monumental celebrations for our 10 year anniversary . We will save all the activities planned for 2021! We will be sending each camper regardless if you have opted out a Trails of Summer gift box with loads of activities for you to do during the summer. I'm thinking I should have added a HUGE bottle of wine for the parents lol. I wish you all a safe, easy and relaxing summer and cannot wait to see you on the Trail for 2021.STAY WELL. See more

How lucky are we that we can keep our children safe yet still help them to have a magical summer experience in summer 2020 With a bit of a twist, we will be TRAILS ON THE GO. Our outstanding mature staff will go to the home of each family, with our Trails package of goodies. One to one ONLY but with loads of exciting things to do. Arts and crafts, games, activities, Zoom story time, hiking, pick nicks, baking and social skill development on the menu. Just like having a special big sister or big brother for the summer and giving the parents some much needed respite. Please confirm with us if you are in, and for those who have decided otherwise we will issue a full refund.We have a huge waiting list so if you feel that this summer is not working for you let us know A.S>A>P. Hello my dear families. It is 11:20 at night and I find myself thinking about you and the children all the time. These times are so difficult and I'm sure even more confusing for the children. I listen to the news daily and the more I listen the more confusing it gets. Schools to be opening with teachers not wanting, or being equipped to return. Keeping in touch with the staff who were so excited to see all your children.I wait for information that will assure me that your ch...ildren will be safe. The staff coming from all over the city must take public transport. Parents working or needing to go back to work. These times are very trying on all of us. I will keep you posted as to the plan for summer 2020 and what the modifications may be. Please know that every minute of every day you are in my thoughts. Our children are so needy yet any distancing is virtually impossible. Holding their hand, helping them change, making sure they have sunscreen and lots of hydration transitioning from activity to activity are just some little issues we must think about. Hopefully as the days move forward there will be better news to come. My love to all your wonderful kiddies. See more

Just a note to all the families. We are thinking of you every day. Our unbelievable head staff is in constant contact and always thinking about what we will do "IF" Jessica our soon to be school teacher has come up with all kinds of activities for you on line while. Erika Emily and Kennedy are in touch with me always as we wait for news. All the staff is still on board and hopeful. We will have alternatives for you should camp not begin on time. No one will be charged anything for camp unless it is a go. Stay safe and please feel free to get in touch for any information Hugs to all the children..

To all my families and little "trail mixes". we are totally aware that this is a difficult time for the kids. We don't have all information for the future but rest assure we are making MANY alternative plans. Our excellent staff have all been chosen for summer 2020 and we will work together to offer recreation programs. We are very creative in offering your children who we know so well loads of creative alternatives. Whatever the outcome we will not abandum your children. We will keep you posted as time goes on.Set up some tents with sheets they love tents and let them play inside the tents. Outside play and bring their toys. They love "pantry" let them rearrange your canned goods and play store.AND don't forget the wine....one sip for them, two sips for you!!!!

So what's up and in store for our summer prep at Trails of Summer. Let me tell you. Head staff will be going to our storage spot tomorrow where all our treasures are being warmly stored throughout the winter. This storage was generously donated to us by Richard Stern of Olymbec and we are so grateful. Time to check out getting all new arts and crafts supplies. Seems like the kids chew and demolish markers! Paints, canvases, glue and special projects on order. More wonderful... pieces for our sensory room. Swinging chairs,a few more tents,and loads of soft lighting. In our games room another train table with loads of little trains and bridges to connect to the three we already have. The best place for our kids to hang out and reconnect after not seeing each other all winter. Kitchen supplies and utensils for our "eatery training" preparing box lunches for the staff and kids each week! So many new adventures for our beautiful children who come to a place where they belong, are empowered, and able to be the kind of kid they need to be. Whose kids will be going to La Ronde twice this summer......Ummm ours will. Whose kids will be going horseback ridding twice this summer....Ummm ours will. Whose kids be going to restaurants , bowling, aquadome, woo hoo for the little ones.....Ummm ours will. Who will be the day camp to have Mon Gym come to them to give the kids a great gym experience.....Ummm we will. Whose kids will swim and go to Sky tag twice a week with a one to one ratio.....Ummm ours will.... Whose children will be loved, happy and have a great night sleep waiting for tomorrow all summer......OURS WILL!! TRAILS OF SUMMER,WHERE KIDS ARE JUST KIDS HAVING GOOD OLD FASHION FUN!

We are so blessed to have the devoted staff we have. Elianna Francianca [ hope I spelled it correctly,] is doing a school project for Trails of Summer in the hopes of raising money for our camp. Our staff who are quite tired after a summer of work come back the very weekend after camp is over and host a color run to raise money for our kids. Throughout the year, on their own accord, the staff are involved on many levels helping make Trails of Summer so great for our kids. It is these devoted young people who create the magic.Less then 135 days to go!

Hello everyone. A friendly reminder to past campers. If you have not let me know yet, and you think your child/children will be returning to camp in 2020 just send me an email or Facebook note. I have begun meeting with new families who have been on our wait list and they are anxiously waiting for a spot. Of course priority goes to all returning campers. Registration packages will be ready to send out January 2020.Return package with deposit to Trails of Summer should be sent back by March after which we will assume you are not returning and your spot will then be given to the next child on the wait list. Full payment by May 1st 2020. Thanks for your co operation.

Winter is upon us but that means it's time to start planning for summer 2020. Trails of Summer will be 10 years old so this will be an exciting celebratory summer with even more fun and more surprises if that is even possible!!! We have many dream trips for the children on our Wednesday outings. .Many returning staff who are excited to see the children year after year.We already know that most of our seasoned campers are returning so for any new folks, just give us a call if you are interested, as registration fills so quickly. [ 514-684-0333] Our brand new "living in my community "program was a huge success and we plan to expand with more young people ready to sharpen their social and life skills in a fun environment. Can't wait to see you on the Trail!!

A note from camp with a few thanks. If it were not for these places and people, camp would never have been as great as it was this past summer. M.B. school board for their beautiful space at St. Luc school with the supportive fabulous principal Frederic. Anne Tremblay from the city of D.D.O. who made it happen. Wetpark pool , who gave us a wonderful time slot and welcomed our kids with open arms. Sky Tag! The "funnest" place of all for our kids to have safe and exciting tra...mpoline time.The supervision and staffing are second to none.One and only one child jumping on each trampoline with NO running from place to place kept our children 100 % happy and 100%injury free. AND last but really first our devoted donors who make Trails of Summer the beautiful reality that it is. We will be opening registration end of November for those who want to get their names in early. We always hope to take more new campers each summer but as a one to one staff, camper ratio, the spots fill very quickly. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the trail with....if you can believe it....more new and exciting activities never having taken place at a camp before!!!!! Say tuned. See more

So proud and honored!!!

End of summer two thousand ninteen. 39 days and seemed like a dream. The staff were perfect, kids were great, The summers activities ended up first rate.... Sun shone daily, as happy children played. All summer outings perfectly made. La Ronde and horseback to name a few. How to top those what's a person to do? Our beautiful children participated with joy Every gorgeous girl and beautiful boy. We move forward tomorrow to plan for next year Choosing more exciting outings without any fear Our children are special in more ways then one They know how to be kind , to share and have fun. If you want to see goodness at the crucks of it all come see our children having a ball. For fuel for your soul, come and see That Trails of Summer is the place to be!!! Tomorrow the color run so come and join in Supporting are kids will be a win win !.

Week 1 of session 2 and here we go!!!!! Amazing new children coming on board and some from session 1 continuing the summer. Tuesday our life skills group are off to the movies, another group off to the Jewish public library for story and crafts and another group off to the splash pad. Wednesday Trails is off to Camp Wingate for an exciting experience in beautiful St. Adolph de Howard.Last year they welcomed us with open arms serving us a lunch buffet in the beautiful sunshin...e, then off to the beach for swimming , boating, and paddle boating followed.by games on their field with the Wingate campers. It was spectacular to share an integrated day where staff and campers of both populations got along harmoniously and had a ball. The kids are counting down the hours to return again. Horseback riding and La Ronde coming up.Life is good on the Trail. Remember our color run on August 17 and come by and support our little "trail mixes". See more

Well dear friends here we are with two days to go to end session 1 of camp 2019. What a month it has been! Better then we could have anticipated. Our new group "Living in my community" was a huge success. Trips on the bus and metro, out for lunch with each child handling their own bill. Learning new skills to help carry them through life .Camp life for all the children was wonderful and great new friendships were made. The staff worked tirelessly with love in their hearts ea...ch day. This was the most important ingredient in making this recipe work as perfectly as it does. To all our children leaving on Friday, we wish you a great rest of the summer and an easy school year going forward. For our new campers coming in, can't wait to share the fun with you. For our returning campers coming back on Monday, get a good weekend of rest cause on Monday morning we are off to more fun and new activities.Thank you staff for an outstanding job thus far. Just a little over a week and counting until we open the door for 2019. We are so ready to rock and roll. Had the best staff training day today with the smartest, most motivated young people. The energy is high and the programs are all developed for our "trail mixes" Planning a huge color run for August 11th with radio and T.V. support! Come by and visit. Life is great when you're on the trail.

Here I am again with more good news Our camp will be adding a new program of Life and social skill development during the summer called "Living in my community". Three days a week, a group of campers will come together where they can work on Daily living and social skills out in the community. With special staff and a fine tuned program, the group will plan and implemet community activities. This is so badly needed. Academics run from September until June but all our children,regardless of their level of functioning need to learn skills for appropriate daily living,functioning in the community, and making friends.We are thrilled to initiate this exciting endeavor.Our "Trail" grows longer and wider! Hoping for sunshine for us and all other camps this summer.

TRAILS OF SUMMER is offering a "wednesday funday" for children not registered for camp. If you are looking for a special outing with your child, Wednesday's on the trail is for you.Join us with your child [ or another person to accompany him/her]. on our fabulous outings. We realize that there are limited programs for kids with special needs and special programs fill very quickly. This will give your child a great day at camp, enjoying an extra fun activity like horse back riding etc. You can choose your Wednesday's to join but you must accompany your child.Please call -514-684-0333 for more information. A month away from our opening! SO excited for our 2019 summer. New ball pits in our sensory room, more adventures horseback riding. La Ronde is on the ticket again! Our children are marvelous and growing so quickly. We know this as we need to keep ordering larger camp T Shits each summer lol. Open house June 22nd 2-4 come by and meet the head staff and check out all the activities. Lots of surprises in store. Outstanding animated staff on board for each and every child. Summer 2019 staff have all been hired. These are pristine, devoted bright young gus and gals who will change the lives of 50 children and their families. As each summer approaches I am always concerned as to how we will continue to get the caliber of people we do. WE ALWAYS DO. For this reason Trails of Summer is a magical place to shine. Trails of Summer is thrilled to announce that most of our staff for 2019 are hired. I know I say this every year but I am blown away at the caliber of young guys and girls who apply each year.They are what make the program work.! Their love and devotion to their campers for the 8 week period is unexplainable. For this reason we have a 99% return rate of children. We have just a few spots left for interested staff. Summer 2019 watch out , our kids are ON THE TRAIL!!!!!!!

We are so excited to have our campers return who have grown up at camp. We welcome so many new faces this summer. Each year Trails of Summer continues to grow. Planning each summer at camp gets more and more exciting. We once again will visit Camp Wingate sleep away camp for the day. Last summer we were welcomed with open arms. A beautiful lunch buffet was set up for all our children with their favorite "kiddy foods" We went boating sailing and enjoyed the beach. Had the best afternoon of camp games with their typical children.We will be enjoying another day this summer, and man oh man they have the best freezies ! Once again a trip to La Ronde and Horse back riding are confirmed. Woud not be the same if I gave away all our secrets but 2 0 1 9...is provin to be mighty fine!!! Stay tuned.

Hello from Trails of Summer 2019. Camp registration is well under way and we are almost full full!. Only 147 days left until opening day. We are already into planning our spectacular field trips. We are confirmed for our swimming 3x" a week and of course back to Sky Tag. Our one to one camper staff ratio will always keep our children safe.We are always SO LUCKY to retain outstanding staff and look forward to familiar faces. For anyone who may be interested visit you tube " Finding Connors voice". It is about a 7 year old with severe Autism who is now taking medical Cannibus. The family is finding a HUGE change in him for the first time in his life.

A last post for summer 2018. Wow what a time we had!! Where did the 8 weeks go? Fabulous field trips, new adventures, but best of all new friendships were made. Thanks to our outstanding staff who did a job that was 110% All of this could never have been acomplished if it was not for our "Trails of Angels" our donors who give so generously so that so many children can have this magical summer experience.I thank you all and look forward to 2019. I think I better get cracking because making next year better then this year is going to be tough to beat.Until then have a grerat school year, I send my love, and hope to see you on the trail!!

Trails of Summer really rocks! We have out of towners from Boston coming to spend time at camp Julian Bell and Aiden welcome. We will prove to you that the long drive was well worth it. Family staying at the Hampton Inn. First pilot project with out of town children. It's wonderful that we can grow.See ya Monday on the trail.
