It’s Day 1 of 3-5 & Thrive! Today we have three exercises to perform. Try it out see how it feels and repeat for a few sets. Get your heart rate up, and sweat a little... or a lot . Do it on its own or add it to a workout. Working at home? Take a break and blow off some steam. Lunges -stay tall and keep that heel on the back leg/foot up... -knees behind toes -watch your form Push Ups...modify to suit your ability. -Standing, hands on the wall -Hands on the couch or a step -Hands and knees on floor -High plank..all out -keep your core tight to prevent your back from dipping or arching High Knees.. -Marching or running on the spot..knees high -Fast! -This is impact ...Keep your steps light! Don’t forget to hydrate. Do it fast...find your pace. Monitor your heart rate and exercise response. Roseatta Long....I decided to do a daily post. I’m calling it ACTION FRACTIONS! Suggestions on how to add bits of movement into your day. Ideas for little things you can do that add up to a whole lot of movement at the end of a week. So...fractions of exercise that equal a whole (lot of action). You could do them once/day or multiple times. Take what you need or add, subtract, divide or multiply. Add them to your workout. Maybe some of you working from home will use the movements throughout the work day to break up all of the sitting. We will include strength, cardio, agility, balance and mobility. All of the elements you need to stay fluid and balanced through what is a stressful time for many of us. Betty may even teach a few of the exercises. Stay tuned. #movementismedicine

First... please clear any exercise with your doctor if you have any joint or health issues. These three exercises can be done for 20-30 seconds each. You can do each three and then repeat each once again 2-6X. We will work on increasing our lower body strength and raise our heart rates. We will also practice balance. If you have any problems with balance stand on both feet and throw the ball or if you feel stable enough, stand heel to toe. Please keep proper form (refer to the exercise cues) and PACE yourself. You should be working hard and getting warm but able to carry on a conversation. No gasping for breath. Modify or leave out any exercise that doesn’t suit your body. If you use a chair, make sure it is against the wall. Have fun!
