Everybody has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth. Iron Mike said it best. Week 3 of D.F.Q.--our five-week rucking program--was not supposed to look like this. But as everyone is still dealing with the aftermath of the storm last week, we were stuck with snow drifts, ice, and very few places to ruck safely.... So, like all good ruckers, we adapted. We rucked a mile to a hill I knew would be fairly clean. We started by bear crawling up and down the hill for ten minutes straight before hopping into our main workout of ruck swings, ruck high-pulls, ruck presses, ruck curls, and hill sprints. We were pretty fried by then, but still managed to push ourselves on the ruck back to our starting point. We carried our rucks overhead, did a few sprints, and finished with a final set of ruck push-ups. Pushing yourself with awesome people is always and incredible way to kickstart the weekend. I feel strong, energized, and accomplished. All thanks to the team.

How often do you do things you aren't very good at? Practicing movements you don't have much experience with during your warm-ups or easy days can be a great way to bring that skill up. Keep it light, get some good quality reps in, and focus on form over all else. There will be good reps and bad ones, but that's fine. Being able to pick out which reps were good and which were bad is more important than doing them all correctly.... Be patient, keep showing up, and you'll be surprised at how far you can go in a few months. #TrainWithConviction

Light weights. But still moving. With another D.F.Q. beatdown coming up this Saturday, I've gotta rein it in a little during the week.

Spartan Racers: STOP FAILING OBSTACLES! Like its predecessor, Ultimate OCR Metcons, this is a short, simple book filled with tips, workouts, and programs to help you develop the kind of grip required to succeed in Obstacle Course Racing. Our team, #TrainWithConviction, has seen a lot of success in the past five years. We have been the fastest team at several Spartan Races. Our athletes have stood atop countless OCR podiums. And many of our racers qualify for the OCR World Cha...mpionships on a regular basis. You need to be a decent runner to reach this kind of success. But ask any of our Spartan Ultra Beast podium finishers and even they will tell you that running, on its own, is not enough. A huge part of OCR success comes from having a strong grip that will not quit. This short guide contains a number of fun, challenging workouts that will help you dominate every obstacle. No more falling off rigs or sliding down ropes. No more slipping off monkey bars or dropping heavy carries. If you work hard, stay consistent, and follow the advice in this book, you will be flying through obstacles like never before! Available on Kindle and in paperback now - https://amzn.to/3oyCA4K

Another awesome Saturday morning D.F.Q. session in the books! We started in near pitch black this morning as we had only a waning crescent moon to light our way. It was much colder this week than last, but it didn't take long for us to warm up. After rucking and ruck running to our workout location, we got to work.... Curls, shuttle runs, bear crawls, and push-ups were on the menu today. It doesn't sound like much, but ask anyone who was there for a 'high-five' and you'll realize how difficult it was as they struggle to lift their arm above their waist. As we returned back to our starting location, we once again incorporated rucking and ruck running, providing us with a sixty-minute full body beatdown to begin our day. A great workout with great people like this will forever be a great way to start the weekend. #TrainWithConviction

You can do A LOT with just one or two kettlebells, but sometimes it's nice to have a wide variety.

Conviction Fitness 07.11.2020

The top position of the kettlebell swing can be pretty challenging for some people. But it doesn’t have to be. Rather than worrying about what the kettlebell is doing, focus on exploding out of the hinge position into a tall plank.... Stand tall with your back flat and glutes and abs engaged, and you’ll be swinging like a pro in no time! https://trainwithconviction.com//improve-your-kettlebell-/

Plain and simple, our Strength Camp program works. How can I say that with such conviction? Because we have grade 5 boys who lift more than many high school athletes, and grade 10 girls who lift more than most grown men.... #TrainWithConviction

Our 11/11 Ruck is coming to a close. I cant thank everyone enough for donating and participating in this event! 11 km with 11 burpees in front of the Cenotaph every kilometer. And a whole bunch of money raised for the Regina Legion. Great work, everyone!
