Dear Trakkers - in recognition of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, the club's executive has decided to cancel this week's proposed Sunday trip, and thus our skiing season comes to an end. There will be no further Sunday trips planned. Our planned Annual General Meeting and Year-End Party, scheduled to take place on April 8, is also being cancelled. We have made this decision after careful consideration of Public Health Canada's guidelines about risk-informed decision-making fo...r mass gatherings during the COVID-19 global outbreak. While our Sunday trips may not traditionally be considered as a "mass gathering", we are extremely mindful of the close proximity of our members while on the bus, and the club's inability to assess potential high-risk factors such as individuals' travel histories or those who may have occupational exposure. Additionally, the demographic in our club is diverse -- including older adults and/or people potentially with immune vulnerabilities -- and we feel that getting out for "one last ski" simply doesn't off-set the potential risk. We trust that our members respect this decision. Any members who may have signed up and paid for this Sunday's trip will have their accounts credited in full. CORRECTION: Hardwood Ski and Bike is the destination for Sunday, March 15. Regular departure time at 9:00 a.m. Let's try and get another skiing Sunday in this season! 1 bus only so register soon!

It may be warm in Toronto, but we are fingers crossed for continued snow coverage up north! Our trip next Sunday, March 15 is scheduled to go to Highlands Nordic. Sign up by 9:00 p.m. on Thursday night to reserve your seat on the bus. A few notes and updates: Trakkers Ski School is finished for the season and we will no longer be offering lessons. From all the instructors it was a pleasure teaching!... Pacita was the winner of last week's photo contest - congratulations! We will continue to monitor weather conditions closely throughout the week and will post updates.

Arrowhead Provincial Park is our destination tomorrow! Forecast is high of 7 degrees and sunny. Early bus departure is at 8:00 a.m. Reminder that the clocks change tonight. Spring forward your clocks one hour. State of the ice skating trail is undetermined. 41 Standby seats available

Don't forget to sign up and pay by 9:00 p.m. tonight for our trip to Arrowhead Provincial Park this Sunday! Conditions are looking good -- Arrowhead is reporting a very health 32 cm base, there are flurries in the forecast for tomorrow, and daily highs do not go above zero. We are also closely monitoring reports re: condition of Arrowhead's ice skating trail and will have a subsequent update.

Operational and financial reports for the 2019-2020 ski season will be presented and directors for the 2020-2021 Board of Directors will be elected at this meeting. If you wish to nominate someone else or yourself for a position on the Trakkers Board of Directors, please complete the Nominations and Consent Form and submit to [email protected]. Please note that any person you nominate must expressly consent to you nominating them. If you are unable to attend the AGM, but wish to have someone else represent you and cast your vote(s) with respect to the item(s) of business, please complete the Proxy Form and provide this to the person charged with voting on your behalf, to present at the AGM. Tickets for the Year-End Social, to follow the AGM, are $25 per person, which includes appetizers. Second bus added for this Sunday!!! Enjoy the rest of winter with a trip to Arrowhead! (And don't be off-put by the warmer temps and rain we've had here in Toronto -- there is still tons of base and snow showers in the forecast for Huntsville.) Don't forget to sign up by 9:00 p.m. on Thursday night -- and consider bringing a friend or two! We have one lesson we are offering -- intermediate skate.

Arrowhead Provincial park is our destination for Sunday, March 8. Celebrate International Women's Day skiing on these beautiful nature trails! It looks like Arrowhead will dodge the warm and wet weather forecasted for this week, but please check online frequently for updates on the status of the trip and skating rink. Please note we will have a 8:00 a.m. departure time. In addition to the early departure, Daylight Savings Time is also Sunday, March 8. Spring forward means the... clocks go forward by 1 hour at midnight prior to our bus departure. There will be one bus. If it fills very quickly, a second bus might be added. Please check online frequently and on Saturday for updates as the weather may be tenuous. Everybody hope for another ski day before Spring!!!

Mark your calendars! This year’s Year-End Social will take place on Wednesday, April 8. Our party will start at 7 p.m., right after our brief Annual General Meeting which is scheduled to start at 6:30pm. We have selected an interesting new venue this year: Burdock Brewery. This is a really nice little micro-brewery and restaurant with a private party space adjoined to the brewery, reserved just for Trakkers. The brewery is located on Bloor St. between Dufferin and Lansdowne ...(1184 Bloor Street West). Food at the Burdock is delicious. Plentiful and delicious appetizers will be served. Ticket price is $25 per person. This includes food. There is a cash bar serving both wine and beer. Do come out and connect with your ski friends. Don’t say good bye. Raise a glass and make some summer plans! Tickets must be purchased ahead of time through the Trakkers website similar to the way you register for a Sunday trip.
