New research confirms that spending less than one hour a day preparing food at home is associated with eating more fast food and spending more money eating out. Not having time available may be one of the most significant barriers to achieving a healthy diet. So get friendly with your kitchens; it burns almost as much calories as walking too! ... http://www.ajpmonline.org/ar/S0749-3797(14)00400-0/abstract

These days fear mongering is alive and well and sugar is the just the latest dietary demon. It's being blamed for just about every problem currently plaguing mankind. I've always found this to be preposterous as I've maintained a diet of 45-55% carbs/sugar for most of my 40 years of life. I've also witness countless clients lose weight just fine while maintaining higher than average carb/sugar intake. My glucose and body fat levels are remarkably low. My energy and performan...ce is the best it's ever been. How can this be so? Shouldn't I be obese with multiple health consequences? This article sums up why this assumption is so completely false and why mainstream media and science are often diametrically opposed. I actually read it while sipping a delicious mint chocolate chip protein smoothie (gasp!) Check it out: http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/does-the-movie-fed-up/

These days I spend a lot of time in the kitchen trying out new recipes that are highly palatable yet controlled for specific caloric and nutrition composition. I now have hundreds of easy to prepare, healthy and delicious recipes that have been tested not only for taste and texture but for how they make me feel. Plus, cooking actually burns a lot of calories and displaces less productive activities. ... I'm convinced that the greatest skill you can possess when you want to lose weight, or just feel and perform better, is to learn how to cook. If you're willing to spend endless hours a week in the gym, why wouldn't you alternatively spend a little of that time preparing your meals? For many, cooking is arguably a much more productive, not to mention more enjoyable than exercise. It's therapeutic and so empowering to finally be in control of your weight and your energy levels. I came across this nice article today that from a girl who learned to cook and finally lost weight. I think her story will resonate with many of you.
