The Turtle symbolizes goddess energy, and is one of the oldest symbols in Native American teachings for Mother Earth. The Turtle travels the world, carrying her home on her back. I create all of my dreamcatchers, incense burners, loose leaf incense, macrame, etc with this in mind. ... I started the Transient Turtle as a creative outlet, and as a way to share my art with the world, while honouring it. I do my best to source my materials sustainably, checking second hand stores first for yarn, etc, and then moving onto retail stores who share similar values (renewable resources, fair trade products, locally sourced, etc). I look for mainly compostable fibres like wool or cotton I work on projects that make me happy, so that there is only positivity in my pieces- no resentment or boredom. Each piece is handcrafted with love and attention. See more

A few years ago I went to Newfoundland with my boyfriends family! I collected a bunch of driftwood, bits of charcoal, rocks, and other interesting finds from the beach including what I think is a whales tooth! I ended up hitchhiking home alone on that trip (and beat them back to Ontario!) with all these findings and the stupid amount of books and clothes I decided to pack for the two week trip I found one of the bags of driftwood and charcoal a few months ago that I had f...orgotten about, and ended up making a few little macrame hangings! I absolutely adore how this one turned out (it was actually the first one I made, too!) I love creating unique things with a story, but I’m definitely going to need to start packing lighter if I’m going to keep collecting so much stuff on my trips ! See more
