An important research opportunity for Canadian Armed Forces Veterans and currently serving members to be a part of! See the attached poster and note below for more information. _____________ ... Good afternoon, In addition to conducting research, the Chronic Pain Centre of Excellence for Canadian Veterans strives to provide support to other researchers especially when they are studying Veterans. Larah Maunder at Queen’s University is studying how one’s mental health impacts chronic pain. She is looking for Veterans and active serving members to complete a 30-60 minute survey on their health status including any injury, trauma, and pain from past experiences. By supporting her research, we can improve our understanding of the Veteran experience and grow this field of research so that we can develop programs that improve Veterans’ and active service members’ quality of life. Interested individuals should read the attached poster and contact Larah directly at [email protected] Thank you for your consideration, Paul Roos Director of Operations

With school starting back up, this is a good opportunity to help kids process what they are feeling. @tutordoctorglobal has this great resource to help get you... started! #accessibility Image description: A big heart with the base of a lightbulb on the bottom is divided in four sections with black text. The header reads: "4 tips for enhancing your child's emotional intelligence." The upper left quadrant is peach and reads: "Allow kids to talk about their feelings. Children need to be able to talk freely about emotions, without fear of judgment, to allow them to recognize their emotions, develop empathy, and enhance communication skills." The upper right quadrant is pink and reads: "Read stories together. Reading about fictional characters is a great way for kids to develop empathy and understanding. Ask questions about how the characters are feeling and encourage children to relate these emotions to their own experiences." The lower left quadrant is sky blue and reads: "Model problem solving skills. When children experience negative emotions, it provides an excellent opportunity to talk about what they can do to alleviate these feelings." The lower right quadrant is yellow and reads: "Talk about your own feelings. By telling your child honestly about times when you've been angry, scared or lonely you give them permission to own their emotions." #child #children #parenting #parents #parent #parenthood #parentingtips #parentlife #motionalhealth #emotion #emotionalintelligence #emotions #play #playtime #playtherapy #backtoschool #school #schoolmemes #wrawesome #kwaswesome #kitchener #waterloo #ontario #canda See more

This is a grant through the Ministry of Education that all families in Ontario can apply for, who have children aged 0-12 (or up to 21 if the child has special needs). Each child receives $200, or $250 for children with special needs, for supplies to help them learn while school is closed. The application can be found through the link below. This grant is a different application than the Support for Parents grant that was issued during the teacher’s strikes so families who h...ad applied for that funding will need to reapply for this new program. https://www.ontario.ca/page/get-support-families#section-2

The holidays are often referred to as the best time of the year. However for those who are grieving the loss of loved ones, the holidays can magnify feelings of loss and sadness. This reading is for those who are grieving or those who want to help someone who is grieving, over the coming weeks. We wish for everyone that their holidays are what they need them to be and that everyone is gentle with themselves at this time of year. #Christmas #holidaygrief... #TrentHills #Campbellford See more
