Overview A cruise around the Baltic Sea is the perfect way to sample the splendours of Europe’s northern capitals of culture and Baltic scenery. With an emphasis on sightseeing, wherever possible we take the opportunity to explore the local countryside beyond the historic cities. Our unique shore walks and excursions include:... St Petersburg Jewel in the crown, where we visit The Hermitage, Church of The Spilt Blood and Catherine Palace amongst many great sights. Copenhagen Home to the Little Mermaid, with colourfully painted canal side houses of Nyhavn and the town of Helsingor, home to the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Stockholm Built on fourteen islands, Stockholm is the perfect place to spend time in the cobbled streets of the old town and the magnificent parklands. Tallinn Capital of Estonia, Tallinn is an up and coming place, but has a medieval old quarter which is everyone’s idea of the middle ages. Helsinki Different from all other Scandinavian capitals, Helsinki is small and easily explored on foot. Our tour takes in the city centre and fortress island of Soumenlinna. Visby On the Swedish holiday island of Gotland. We take a short countryside walk and visit Visby’s walled town with its cobbled streets and roses. Riga Our tour includes Riga Castle, Cathedral and Powder Tower, Swedish Gate entrance to the Old Town, gabled houses on Maza Pils Street and the Cat House. Kiel Canal We sail through the world’s busiest artificial waterway, flowing for about 60 miles/100km and linking the North Sea with the Baltic.
