Shared from a good friend that just returned from B.C... thanks Krista...! My daughter and I arrived at the airport (YYZ) around 1.5 hours prior to departure. We checked in via the Air Canada app in order to avoid having to use the kiosks on arrival. It took us a whopping 15 minutes to get from the terminal entrance to our gate - that has to be a record! That included a mandatory boarding pass check and hand sanitizing in order to gain entry to the security checkpoint.... Our temperature was monitored via a thermal body scanner (touch free, and from a distance) that took less than 5 seconds. Then on to carry-on baggage scanning, just like normal, except with no lines and the presence of additional hand sanitizing stations before and after security. Boarding the flight was very efficient, with boarding zones being staggered, the implementation of additional boarding zones and less people in each zone, reducing the number of passengers approaching the counter at any given time. Face masks are to be removed/pulled down for identification purposes at the desk only, and then put back on to board. The flights were nothing but normal - minus the presence of masks on passengers and crew! Everyone received an Air Canada CleanCare+ care package that included a bottle of water, pretzels, hand sanitizer, a cleansing wipe, headphones, a replacement mask and gloves. The lavatories on board were equipped with additional personal hand sanitizer packets as well. We arrived early flying in both directions, kudos to Air Canada for providing not only an incredibly safe experience, but also an efficient one!! I can tell you though, that I felt 100% safe flying with my daughter, and am completely confident Air Canada has taken every possible step to ensure the safety of everyone who makes the choice to fly!
