Two original maps from the Barony of Seabeg’s collection. The 1681 map by Du Val is my oldest. The 18th Century map of the Roman Antonine Wall is my favourite as Le Mot de Seybeggis (Seabegs Castle) has one side of the wall incorporated into its structure.

WHILE IN SCOTLAND, VISIT NOVA SCOTIA! Charles Fort, in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, is the place where Sir William Alexander founded New Scotland in 1629. ...In a grand scheme the province’s development was financed by Baronets of Nova Scotia who were granted huge tracts of property known as baronies. The titles remain but the king gave the province back to the French in 1632. The province’s current name, flag and arms all originated with this short-lived colony. Since the original charter was in Latin we took the Latin name for New Scotland, Nova Scotia, from the document. Nova Scotia is also unique in that a small piece of it is located in front of Edinburgh Castle. Because most of the Baronets didn't actually want to go in person, but were required to receive their titles in Nova Scotia, the King by Royal Decree, designated a piece of land along the castle's esplanade as a part of Nova Scotia hence the recipients didn't actually have to travel far to receive the title. The decree still holds and visitors to Edinburgh Castle can take a little side trip to the right about 100 feet, look for the plaque with a reversed flag of Scotland, blue cross on white instead of vice versa. Technically you have then also been to Canada. See more
