Perfect weather today to finish my last outdoor construction project of the year. New steps on the front porch. The previous steps were rotting and too steep as the ground had settled. Now my customer can come and go safely on the new level stairs.

My customer has a backyard with incredible potential, I have been working to bring her vision to life. When I started working for her this spring the yard had some amazing mature trees but a lot of grass damage and no flower beds. She had a vision of beautiful flower beds wrapping the yard and filled with beautiful flowers. I added garden beds with cedar wood chips, and planted over 50 perennials, 3 massive white spruce trees and a rocky rose garden with another 20 rose bushes and flowering perennials. Now her yard is a like walking into a secret garden! Next year I expect all the flower beds and plants to really look spectacular!

Building this Arbour was the most fun and challenging project of my 2020 outdoor building season. It is now finished and I am absolutely thrilled with the results! This Arbour is made from western red cedar including the 6x6 square posts which really are really dramatic. I stained each piece as it went into the construction, and it was critical that everything was level, square and plum! By focusing on the all the little details this project is a true backyard showpiece. I have to give a shout out to my Dad for all the help he provided!
