Townshippers' Research & Cultural Foundation 22.12.2020

The board members of Townshippers' Research & Cultural Foundation wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and healthy New Year! We are following the pandemic guidelines and staying socially distanced in solidarity with our hard working health workers. May 2021 bring us many joyful moments and the ability to congregate again.

T'is the time for year-end giving. Please consider Townshippers' Research & Cultural Foundation this year. With your help, we are able to support projects in the Eastern Townships. All gifts, small or large, are greatly appreciated.

Today is Giving Tuesday. Unlike Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it's not about buying material things, but building a better tomorrow. When making your year-end donations, please consider Townshippers' Research & Cultural Foundation. Help us fund worthy projects here at home in the Eastern Townships.

This great initiative is an annual undertaking by one of the groups we support. If you are thinking of giving to a local cause, this is a good one.

Most people know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday but have you heard of Giving Tuesday? Instead of buying material objects, Giving Tuesday encourages people to support charitable causes. This year Giving Tuesday will be celebrated on December 1 and we hope you will consider TRCF when making your year-end donations.

A reminder to all that poppy sales support veterans, and during the pandemic this year, your support will mean more than ever.

TRCF's annual campaign is now underway. If you did not receive a campaign letter but are interested in our Foundation, here is the text we sent out: What a year! The Townshippers Foundation was required to leave the Marguerite Knapp building in early October due to extensive water damage. Staff worked from home until February when a new rental location was secured at 3355 College Street, in the borough of Lennoxville. Well, you know what came next: During the seco...nd week of March, the Board held a meeting to finalize project funding, just days before the building was required to close due to COVID 19. Staff, once again, were required to work from home. The annual Grant Giving Luncheon was cancelled because of the pandemic, so cheques were sent via the mail. Offices remain closed to the public, but staff have been coming and going on a limited basis, dutifully disinfecting and respecting distancing. Zoom meetings are the new normal and masks are the new facial accessory. The reality is that things take longer to get done, but they are getting done. The Foundation contacted every grant recipient for an update concerning how they planned to proceed, because many had scheduled fall or summer activities. We reassured them that they have our full support, and all we needed was a commitment to continue with their project when public health guidelines allow. We gave away close to $40,000 in March, and we hope to match this amount during the current campaign in order to fund new, deserving projects. We hope you will consider us again this year, because groups in the Townships need our support now more than ever. Whether you give via a cheque through the mail, or a credit\debit card donation through CanadaHelps, every dollar helps. Individuals who do online banking may want to consider the easy option of an e-transfer via our email ([email protected]). We also have a discount brokerage account for those wanting to donate shares. Thank you for your support! Jane Loiselle, President On behalf of the Board of Directors
