Hi everyone. Hope all are safe. Covid has changed how we do our charity work, but what has not changed is our passion. We are still filling bead orders and are happy to send to you. We are taking all proper protocols when filling orders. Please, if beads are needed complete form on our website. www.treasurelife.ca
Hi everyone. Just a short note to see how everyone is doing? We are all safe and staying home. It looks like Albertans have done a stellar job with stay home/stay safe policy and social distancing has become the new normal. Unfortunately our golf tournament is still cancelled, but we plan on returning with great gusto in 2021. We all hope you and your families are doing well and please remember you can still order your beads online at treasurelife.ca

An important announcement from Treasure Life: We are notifying you that our 2020 Annual General Meeting scheduled for Sunday, March 22nd, is being moved online, to help ensure everyone's safety during the COVID-19 public health emergency. You are welcome to join us remotely. The meeting begins at 11A.M. (Mountain Daylight Time).... Simply contact Charlene Jenkins, Treasure Life President, at [email protected], before Sunday, if you would like to participate.
Treasure Life was chosen to be the charity of choice for proceeds from a children book. Linda Harriman has written book 1 of The Highwood Kids. We are thrilled. Thank you Linda. Lindas daughter Jacqueline Harriman is a supporter and a friend of a Board member.
Our main fundraiser is completed. The fundraiser was at Pure Edmonton Casino. Thank you to the Board and many supportive volunteers who showed up. Without your constant support, we could not do our work. The funds from the casino help fund projects. Particularly the Bead Program.
This. For over 12 years ... when a doctor says a common cold can kill your child your view of germ exposure changes. The panic people feel now is the world families with chronically ill children live in and have lived in before, during and after the coronavirus.
Our Stollery night shift heroes. Arent they adorable in their Xmas sweaters. You are all so cute

These ladies (nurses) are our heroes on 4C at the Stollery. What a group of beauties. Second from left is my neighbour Kaelyn Marie Saunders . Known this beauty since she was a child. Evan was her inspiration to become a pedatric nurse.

Hi everyone. Summer is over. (did it even show up?). Our first Board Meeting is Sunday. We are planning our Annual Golf Tournament and another Casino. Watch for future volunteer opportunities.
Hi friends Just a quick posting to let you know we are still here. We break for the summer to give the Board some time off. We are meeting again in September with our Strategic Planning Session. A time to refocus, organize and develop new strategies to take us to even higher goals. Have a great summer and please leave any comments or PM me with suggestions, likes or dislikes of Treasure Life. Our goals are always to improve and enrich cardiac kids lives as best we are... able. Safe summer and wear your sun screen

Tucker earned another WOW bead for his procedure yesterday. I wanted to share a story from the other day that touched me deeply. We went over to the area where... the lady brings the supplies for the Treasure Life beads. There was a little handsome boy who was six years old putting together his string and beads. I over heard his mom telling the lady about his past heart surgery history. This sweet little boy was so proud as he put each bead on and he had the best smile. I couldn't help myself but just sit there in awe of him as the tears fell down my face. What an incredible boy with such an incredible attitude. His mom was taking photos of him and came over to me and asked about our child. She gave me the most sincere and encouraging hug as we continue on our journey. It's funny how no matter what you are going through God aligns you to meet someone or have an experience that is exactly what you needed to give you hope to carry on. It was an amazing moment, one that will stay with me forever. See more
The Treasure Life foundation visited École Bellevue School this week May 28-30 to help students create their very own Treasure Beads accessories. Students picke...d out their Treasure beads, each one representing a different procedure or treatment, and made their own unique bracelets and necklaces. Proceeds from the Treasure Beads helps to support Cardiac Kids. (Emily Jansen/La Nouvelle Beaumont News) See more

Thank you Audrey Broderson and all the ladies from the Beaumont Quilting group for making this beautiful quilt for the silent auction at our Golf Tournament. Thank you Don Mooney for the beautiful finishing.
Just wanted to say thank you to the Treasure Life organization and their volunteers. Our appointment times don't usually overlap so we haven't kept up with Kane's set of beads from his NICU days and his 1st surgery when he was one. But this week we did overlap. And Kane started a new chain beginning with when we found out about his next surgery last May. His case will be presented in the next few weeks and this is just one of the ways to make the experience a little more positive. We appreciate that so much.
Kaelyn Saunders is our neighbours daughter. Bill and I watched her grow up. She came over for a visit and show us her amazing and beautiful engagement ring. She told us the story below and I asked if she would share with our Foundation. She was very willing and excited. This is Kaelyn Saunders story. I currently work as a pediatric nurse at the Stollery Childrens Hospital, working on the Cardiology/GI unit. I began my journey nearly 5 years ago as a student with ...the University of Alberta. Going through school, I was frequently asked why I wanted to pursue a career in nursing, and my answer always involved: wanting to make a difference in a persons life, guiding individuals toward better health, and to be able to do so with compassion and kindness. I was also asked, What kind of nurse do you want to be? I repeatedly stated that I wanted to work in pediatric cardiology. I had no real intel as to why I was drawn to this area of nursing, but knew it was my dream to work there. It wasnt until I graduated and was fortunate enough to be offered a position on the pediatric cardiology/GI unit that I clued into what influenced my desire to be placed there. I grew up across the street from Nana Judy and Grandpa Bill - they were deemed the block grandparents early on. Their grandson, Evan, was a friend who the neighbourhood kids and myself spent many hours playing with. We would climb trees, run, laugh, and play all sorts of games. Despite Evans cardiac diagnosis, he was always a giant light incredibly resilient, happy, and a determined young boy. He would take small timeouts when he felt out of breath but would continue to play just as hard as the rest of us. I remember Evans lips turning grey/blue in colour during these timeout periods and I always wondered why this occurred. When the neighbourhood kids would ask if he was okay, he would respond with the most positive answer. He knew he was sick but never let that stop him from being a happy and positive kid. I truly believe that Evan inspired my journey into nursing. Getting to know Evan and following my curiosity, I wanted to learn more about the heart and how I could be a piece of the puzzle that can aid these children to normal or near normal health. I feel incredibly privileged to be a part of some of the most delicate moments in a child and familys life. In my everyday nursing, I am reminded of the resiliency and positivity that children have, and with that I am reminded of Evan.
