The crazy coloured, super scented bath bombs. The colorful hand sanitizer. The sparkly bath gel.... The hand lotion. The makeup. What’s really wrapped up in all that too excessive packaging is not just 5 minutes of fun. It is Allergies. Eczema. Migraines. UTIs. Hyperactivity. Infertility. Hormone disrupters. Cancer! So many of the ingredients in these products are linked to these diseases and not enough people are making the connection. And unfortunately they are totally normalized in our culture. $4 may sound like a great price point for stocking stuffers .... but please be careful with all the hidden side effects. Although we really do need to get better at reducing single use plastics in general it’s a product that will likely never be eliminated. The next best alternative is definitely to find ways to repurpose the waste and prevent it from needing up in landfills and our oceans.
