DANGEROUS RINK CONDITIONS: TACA has been notified that there is a large section of ice at the outdoor rink that is cracked, posing a safety issue to skaters. It appears that some ice didn't fuse with the ice below when it was flooded recently. Please proceed with caution, and notify others should you know people who use the rink. The matter will be attended to ASAP.

TACA is proud to show off our community's newest feature! Last year we told you about a partnership project that TACA initiated and developed with Hydro One and the City of Ottawa for a community beautification project. And thanks to this partnership and a $15,000 grant from Hydro One, we now have 25 BEAUTIFUL NEW TREES lining both sides of one of the entrances to our community. Go take a look!

TACA received a request from a local family-in-need, asking if anyone has gently-used children's sneakers to donate. They are looking for sizes 13, 1, and 2. Colour doesn't matter. If anyone would like to donate, please email [email protected]

The City of Ottawa and Ottawa Public Health are asking Ottawa residents not to go trick-or-treating on Halloween. Over the next several days, TACA will attempt to share information on COVID-safe options for this year's festivities.

OUTDOOR FALL MARKET! Christ Church in Bells Corners is hosting an outdoor market on Saturday, October 17. This COVID-safe event will take place between 10:00am and 2:00pm in the church parking lot at 3861 Old Richmond Road. You’ll find an amazing selection of frozen food items, jams, hand-crafted items, and moreall in a safe, physically distanced outdoor environment. Strict COVID-19 protocols will be in place and, allowing a maximum of 25 visitors at a time through our one-way market table circuit. Registration for City of Ottawa Fall Recreation and Arts programming has been postponed. Current programs are being reviewed. Stay tuned for an update on a new registration date and any program changes.

LOCAL HIT & RUN: Tonight between 5:00pm - 6:30pm at the corner of Jansen Road and Hobart Crescent a vehicle jumped the curb, drove over a resident's lawn and destroyed a basketball net, almost crashing into the resident's truck. WARD 9 VOLUNTEER AWARDS NOMINATIONS: TACA has been informed by Councillor Egli's office that, in light of COVID-19, the Ward 9’s Annual Volunteer Awards will be taking a different approach this year. Each community association will submit the name of one deserving member of Trend Arlington who has enriched our community through their outstanding volunteer work. To help us do so, we are asking our community to submit recommendations for noteworthy volunteers. Residents in Arlington Woods have likely noticed lots of spray paint markings and utility locate flags on local streets, driveways and lawns. TACA has been notified that Bell is doing infrastructure enhancements, possibly including the installation of fiber-optic cable. From what we have been told, there will be some disturbance to the municipal easement sections of resident lawns. We have been told that a brochure will soon be distributed door-to-door in the affected area. TACA will try to provide updates as quickly as we receive them.

Let's talk about Halloween! No pun intended, but this is going to be a "tricky" year for this kids-favorite holiday. TACA has already heard from a few parents proposing some COVID-safe options.
