It was my privilege to present Cpl Wayne Lother his QOV yesterday at the Trenton Cenotaph. Cpl Lother served in Kuwait and Afghanistan and has been posted all over this beautiful Country from Alert Bay to Gagetown. Thank you for your sacrifice and service to Canada.

I met an extraordinary woman today when I presented her with a Quilt of Valour. Denise Hepburn, seen here with her family is holding up the quilt that was created by one of the amazing quilters in our group. Denise suffered a broken neck in a training exercise in Trenton in 2010, she worked hard coming to terms with her new normal and went on to participate in the Invictus Games winning four bronze medals. Denise thank you for being an inspiration, enjoy your beautiful quilt!

We have been given the green light to do QOV presentations, so this week I have the privilege of presenting two quilts at the Cenotaph in Trenton, if the recipients allow I will share photos.

As everything opens back up in Ontario I would like to hear your thoughts on meeting for sew days. We could probably do one person per table, no sharing of snacks and sanitizing of course. Safety of our members is paramount. Please leave your suggestion in the comments and together we will decide what’s best for our group.

I believe the Janome Quilts ofValour Canada machines will be available soon, our local quilt shops should carry them, however I have not seen them yet. Janome has issued one of their machines to have the QOVC logo on it, the box also has our logo and information about Quilts of Valour - Canada Society. QOVC will receive $10.00 for every machine sold. If you’re in the market for a new machine keep this in mind. I hope you are all doing well, I miss you all so much! Denise

(Smylies Independent Grocer) When we are able we will buy some beautiful fabric and create equally beautiful quilts! Quilts of Valour Canada is asking quilters across the country to make quilts for our injured serving military and our injured veterans from the Bento Box block pattern.5 rows of 6 blocks (30 blocks) will make a quilt approximately 60x72. No borders needed just layer, quilt and bind. Please delve into your fabric stash (we know you have one) for red, whites/creams to build a Brave and Bold quilt for our injured military .The yellow block is the welcoming home- use or don’t u...se at your discretion, both versions will look wonderful. We ask that you also supply the binding for the Brave and Bold top that you donate. Any questions please contact: Mary Ewing@ [email protected] Robbie Chapman@ [email protected] Your finished quilts, tops and blocks can be sent to your local Quilts of Valour representative ,go to quiltsofvalour.ca for a list of representatives across the country or bring them to Quilt Canada 2020 in Edmonton ,Alberta. For sale by silent auction, an Elna 704 DEX top of the line, 14 program serger, does cover-stitch and chain stitch as well as regular serging stitches like 3/4 thread overlock and rolled edges.
