The Circumpolar Studies program is an exciting way for students attending UArctic member institutions to learn about the North, with courses held in the classroom, online, in the field, and around the world. The Circumpolar Studies Program gives students the opportunity to learn about the lands, peoples, and issues of the Circumpolar North and prepares them for advanced study for professional employment in fields as diverse as sustainable resource management, self-government,... Arctic engineering, and northern tourism. Special emphasis is given to matters concerning indigenous people of the Circumpolar North. Interested? Email [email protected] for more information!

Diversity is our strength. Together we are stronger. We stand together. Trent International supports you. It has been a challenging few months and we at Trent International acknowledge the ongoing struggles of racialized communities world-wide including within our own community. We are saddened and angered by the killing of George Floyd. We acknowledge the structural racism that permeates society and we will continue to work with our students to make society more equitable an...d just. We believe that education and action are at the heart of positive social change. We also know that the issue of racism is not unique to one incident or country. We understand that many of our students have lived experiences with racism and discrimination, and that many are feeling angered, concerned, confused, or upset by the current events. We acknowledge that Canada and Trent University are not immune from racism and we will continue to work towards anti-racism and inclusivity. We see you. We hear you. We support you.

Hey everyone, my name’s Stephanie and I am the Study Abroad Programming Assistant. After having the time of my life during my year abroad at Kent University in England, I was lucky enough to volunteer as a Study Abroad Ambassador and Peer Mentor before officially joining the student staff team just over a year ago. I love getting to talk to students about how they can fit a study abroad into their degree and this summer I’ll be helping prepare our outbound and inbound exchan...ge students while popping in to our Virtual Front Desk once a week to answer any questions you may have! My favourite place on campus during the school year would probably be K-House; I’ve had many a good nap on those couches over the years and lots of homework done at those desks in between classes. In the summer and early fall the Bata & Champlain steps down to the Otonabee are my favourite spots to eat lunch, enjoy the sun, and dip my feet in the water during breaks. Bradley Howell à 2019-20 Inverness, Scotland Bradley is a Trent Alumni who completed a BSc Honours in Biology & Environmental & Resources Program. He found out about the opportunity to study abroad While sitting in an environmental course at Trent University. A guest speaker came in and described the process of studying abroad and he was hooked! He says his time abroad, although cut short by the pandemic, was extremely successful!... Bradley explains that UHI Inverness was very different to Trent in terms of multiple buildings and different courses, but was similar in the sense of the connections he was able to build with his professors, he says that the community was very welcoming and there were many academic support systems in place. While studying in Scotland, Bradley took advantage of the ease of traveling in throughout Europe, England, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France! During his studies abroad he completed courses that counted not only towards his degree but also his ERS major. Bradley’s piece of advice: pursue every opportunity that is presented to you! #trentustudyabroad #studyabroad #inverness #scotland #trentuniversity #UHI @ic_uhi
