Carrying things on the head is one thing every Ghanaian is likely to have experienced in their lifetime. Its a traditional way of moving things from one point to the other. Items to be carried can be light or heavy depending on what they are. Water, food Items and luggages etc are example of things that can be carried.

So today we will take a look at 'greeting'as one of Ghana's most common cultures. Ghanaians enjoy greeting one another as it a sign of respect, care and concern. One tends to greet as any people as one meets on their way.I believe some TIG alumni can relate to this. So anytime you find yourself in Ghana don't forget to greet morning, afternoon and evening especially to those around you!

Yesterday, incoming TIGers met online for their Trent-in-Ghana Orientation. After many sessions and a few long hours online, the group is feeling even more excited for their future adventure. They will continue to get to know each other virtually over the next little while. We look forward to bringing you more updates about the program in September. Have a wonderful and safe summer!
TIG alumni, Lindsay Dixon, highly recommends visiting Mole National Park to see elephants and other wildlife. The Park provides walking tours, safaris, and accommodations!
Meet Emilia , she is doing her placement with the Beacon Academay at Zobisi in the Upper East Region of Ghana. She has helped to introduce the Girls Education Club to help educate the Girls on personal hygiene , menstruation etc.Since she started ,enrolment has increased to about forty girls.
There is so much to do while visiting Ghana including visiting Elmina Castle. Original built by the Portuguese in 1482 and used as an important trading post, the castle later became a central stop in the Atlantic Slave Trade. When visiting the castle, you will be taken around to see when slaves were kept up to where the slave masters slept. This is an important piece of Ghana’s history and is one that you will not want to miss while visiting.
Wondering what cool things Ghana has to offer? Our past TIGgers have a few ideas. This week, Sarah shares her TIGger Must-Do with us. Sarah personally loved the Volta Region, one of Ghana’s 16 regions which is located in Eastern Ghana bordering Togo. The region is know for its lush forests and multi-ethnic demographics. #TrentInGhana #Ghana #VoltaRegion #Forest #lush #travel #academic #learn #TrentUniversity
