What a wonderful day for a wedding. That snow last night was the perfect amount and while we shot this afternoon after the ceremony, it began to snow again. It does make it tricky when it’s snowing as half of the photos will have large white blobs over parts of their faces....but when it works, it really works well! Sarah & Joey, I loved shooting your wedding and being a big part of your day today - thank you so much for having me!

But I did get wet on this one as it wasn't frozen. So, I never need that glam, dramatic pose...just give me two people laughing and it will be a winner. But throw in stunning surroundings and you'll have quite the image. Yes, Patrick & Ruba were this happy all day - it's so easy to take photos of people when they are so in love and truly enjoy being around each other! New photographers...the lower you get to water, the better reflection you'll have (see yesterdays post with the ice to see what I mean).

I really do enjoy taking this image every time I'm at Peggy's Cove but yesterday was extra special for Ruba, Patrick and me. Ok, yes, I didn't get wet as the water basin was frozen so I could lay on the ice (that was a nice change)...but can you believe it, for most of the shoot we had Peggy's Cove to ourselves!!!

First wedding of the season! Patrick & Ruba had to do their wedding celebration a little different with, you know...but they had a wonderful wedding for close family and friends over the weekend and then an amazing 'day after' shoot. You see, getting married this time of year, by the time the ceremony and family photos are done, it's dark out. Shooting a day after shoot (or a few days later) is a very normal thing Down South as it's expected getting sunrise shots on the be...ach or trotting around Havana in a stunning dress. So I was thrilled when Patrick and Ruba said they loved the idea of shooting the Sunday, or as it worked out, yesterday. Yes, it was cold but 3 degrees and sunny is stellar for mid-January. We got wonderful images that I look forward to sharing (one of my New Years Resolutions is sharing more images...heck, I did 102 family shoots this past summer and have only shared 5-6 images and I have so many images that tell the story of how I shoot and what I look for). Like this image. I got lots of 'Big' images that will look stunning blown up on their wall (you'll see them over the next day or two) but to me, this is a PERFECT wedding image. They are having so much fun and are so much in love. Yeah, it's not big sky or rolling ocean waves crashing behind them...but...can you see the love? This is the image that would be on my wall. I love love.

Ellen & Steven got married last Saturday, and yes, it was a different kind of wedding from what they were originally planning. (Masks and hand sanitizer were a big part of their day.) But it was a beautiful sunny day, they were able to involve their dog, Cooper, and they had just a perfect wedding! Yes, that's a pretty classic shot I do at Peggy's Cove. I get pretty wet doing it, but it's always very worth it! Look how low the water is - when I saw how low it was I was concerned that I wouldn't get a good reflection ..but I think it turned out pretty good!

Kids at weddings. Some people get all wound up thinking that if the child decides it's time to go for a stroll or to ask the bride a question during the ceremony, that it 'ruins' things. Hell no - it makes everything better. It's these moments that you will remember about your day. This little fella decided to sit up with Lisa & Andrew during their wedding this past Sunday. Instead of asking him to head back to his seat...Andrew says, "Gimme Five". Perfect example of just ro...lling with it. Kids are awesome and I feel can make the wedding day a better day (see the comments as I posted another 'kid moment' from Saturdays wedding too!) Two weddings in one weekend? Yeah - busy! Actually, those two accounted for 50% of this summers weddings. I'm done after just four. I may have a wedding move ahead for their December date but we're holding a 2021 date, just in case! ;) Stay safe!

What a Best Man! Alex was an absolute sport pulling off a prank for the bride yesterday afternoon at Peggy's Cove. The groom died laughing...and completely took the jitters away for when the bride came up for the first look. Congratulations Ellen & Steven - what a great day for such a wonderful wedding! #covidwedding #danhenneburywedding #firstlook

Shooting weddings is a rarity this summer! I shot my second yesterday (yup, I'm about halfway through!) but I've found the weddings I've shot so far have been made a little better, in some ways, due to the pandemic. Earlier this month, Monique and Gerald were forced to have one of the most pared down and cozy Lebanese weddings I've done (but still wonderfully lavish, of course) and yesterday, Desere & Brian had to have a very small and intimate wedding due to limitations o...n travel, etc. It was knocked way down from a big, wild party to just 15-20 of their closest friends and family. It was held at their cabin and their dinner was in a 30x30 tent in their back lawn with the pitter-patter of light rain on the tent roof all night - it was lovely! In fact, this new Covid plan allowed them the flexibility to be able to move the ceremony time ahead by 4 hours to avoid all the rain coming from what was left of Hurricane Laura. And I'm sure a big party is coming for them down the road! ;)
