My wee mom is 93, I miss seeing her in person (this picture was taken last year), but know she is well cared for. I’m so deeply grateful to those who work in the fields of care. Our elders are precious. It’s such a small thing to wear a mask and to take the precautions to protect not just ourselves but for those who are vulnerable and to not put undo strain on those working in the areas of care. I’m finding this to be a time, more than ever, of mindfulness and setting intent...ions of creativity and constructiveness. We are following guidelines in my in-person appointment work and I’m grateful to be able to offer Zoom appointments for people unable to travel or that are having to distance locally. Tidying up my website, nothing too fancy, but hopefully a little more user friendly, I learn most of this by trial and error and it’s a challenge for an older guy like me. I remember when the phone was on the wall (with a long tangled spiral cord), a rotary dial and a pad of paper and a pencil on the kitchen table. Back when I started reading professionally in ‘82 you’d have an ad in the classifieds section of the newspaper. Business cards on bulletin boards (like Prairie Sky) and a listing in the Yellow Pages. Being Open is much more than just a sign on a business door. It’s being present, letting life unfold, having curiosity about possibilities and the potentials of ourselves. This last week being re-opened for work in person appointments has been a very mindful time. Taking care in terms of the physical space, appreciating the support and interest people have in my work. Also the dimension of working online (largely now over Zoom) has had this old dog learning new tricks. I ...love that this allows the work to be available to folks far away or in physical isolation. I think it is a dimension of the work that will continue after this time of limitations. I’m grateful to the opening up that goes on in readings.
