We are excited to be back to work! Dr. Lowry, Dr. Van Horne and our Hygienist team have been back to work as of June 1st. If you had an appointment during March 17th-May 31st please give us a call and we will do our best to find you a new booking. We are working hard to accommodate all of our awesome patients. *The Hygiene Association still has restrictions in place, so at this time we are only booking hand scaling and fluoride varnish* Please do not book an appointment if... you: Have a cough, fever, sore throat or runny nose. Have traveled to any 'Hot Spot' locations in the last 14 days. Have been in contact with any confirmed COVID-19 positive patients, or persons self isolating because of a determined risk of COVID-19. Please limit family members entering the clinic. We ask only the patient booked, and one parent to come inside if patient is under 18. We ask you hand sanitize and remove your footwear at the front entrance with the provided hand sanitizer. Thank you for being patient with us during this time, we are grateful for all of our loyal patients and are looking forward to seeing you all!!!

Alberta Dental Association & College Guidance for Alberta Dental Office Phased Relaunch Strategy On May 4, 2020, the Alberta Dental Association & College (ADA&C) released guidance for dental offices to facilitate the gradual progression to return to a full scope of practice. The ADA&C guidance allows dental offices to provide urgent dental procedures in addition to the emergency dental procedures that they had previously allowed dental offices to provide to their patients s...ince March 16, 2020. On May 14, 2020, provided the Alberta Relaunch Strategy remains on track, Alberta dental offices will be able to provide further services. It is anticipated this will expand to include non-emergency dental services. The ADA&C will communicate with Alberta dental offices when the guidelines for providing patients those further services have been posted. The ADA&C’s guidance on the meaning of emergency, urgent and non-emergency dental procedures is listed below. Emergency dental procedures Emergency dental treatment includes treatment of oral-facial trauma, significant infection, prolonged bleeding, pain which cannot be managed by over-the-counter medications, or management of known/high risk malignancy. Urgent dental procedures Urgent dental care focuses on the management of conditions that require immediate attention to relieve pain and if left untreated may significantly compromise patient dental health, such as: Severe dental pain from pulpal inflammation Pericoronitis or third-molar pain Surgical post-operative osteitis, dry socket dressing changes Abscess, or localized bacterial infection resulting in localized pain and swelling Tooth fracture resulting in pain or causing soft tissue trauma Dental trauma with avulsion/luxation Dental treatment required prior to critical medical procedures Final crown/bridge cementation Other urgent dental care: Active sleep apnea management Extensive dental caries or defective restorations causing pain or that can lead to pain Suture removal Denture adjustment on radiation/oncology patients Denture adjustments or repairs when function impeded Replacing temporary filling on endodontic access openings in patients experiencing pain or an endodontically treated tooth with a high fracture potential Pre-surgical clearance for medical procedures Managing active orthodontic cases Non-emergency dental procedures Below are examples of non-emergency dental procedures. This list includes, but is not limited to the following: Initial or periodic oral examinations and recall visits, including routine radiographs Routine dental cleaning and preventive therapies Extraction of asymptomatic teeth Restorative dentistry including treatment of asymptomatic carious lesions Aesthetic dental procedures Non-painful chronic periapical lesions Dental implants Extraction of asymptomatic teeth

Dental Emergency Treatment During the COVID-19 Pandemic Our office remains closed to the general public and is only open for pre-booked dental emergency appointments. Unfortunately, only Dr. Lowry, one registered dental assistant and two other office staff can work now. A dental emergency would include treatment of oral-facial trauma, significant infection, prolonged bleeding, pain which cannot be managed by over-the-counter medications, or management of known/high risk mal...ignancy. If you are experiencing any pain, or have any concerns about your oral health, please call us at 780-594-5056. If no one can answer the phone when you call us, then please leave us a detailed message. We will return your call as soon as we can. We will talk with you to find out what dental symptoms and other risk factors you are experiencing. This will help us decide if you have a dental emergency. We will then decide how best to help you with your situation. If you have a dental emergency, then we will either book you an appointment to come to our office for further assessment and treatment, or we will provide a prescription directly to your pharmacy, it all depends upon what your particular situation requires. We are here for you and your dental emergencies. And, after Alberta's Chief Medical Officer and the Alberta Dental Association and College allow us to open our office to the general public again, then we will also be here for you and all your other non-emergency dental needs. We hope that won't take too long and that you and yours can stay safe until then.
