The die hard Tom fans were there with bells on and blankets across their laps...and they joined us in a rousing rendition of the Hockey Song. Btw, we played and sang brilliantly in the cold damp air.
Special announcement for fans in the Belleville area...we're bringing our Stories & Songs of Stompin' Tom show to the Signal Brewery in Corbyville this Friday, September 11, 2020. This is a rescheduling of a show last spring that we had to cancel. It will also be our only show until the spring of 2021. That's the plan at this point. 8 pm start. Our special guest will one of Stompin' Tom's favourite sideman, Conrad Kipping (seen here at Tom's 70th birthday party at the house). Tickets at https://www.signal.beer/
There's a Canadian musician who has been prominent in the national scene for many decades yet few know his name. I'm guessing if you sift through your extensive album collection and look up his name, you'll see it often as the resident bass player on some of the classic Canadian recordings. His name is Denis Pendrith. Tomorrow, on CIUT-FM, DJ Steve Fruitman will air a special set of music featuring the work of this great musician. Whiskey Jack never recorded with Denis but he performed with us often. Here's a photo from my 1999 RE/MAX client party at the Naval Club in Toronto. On guitar is Bob Mcniven and on drums is Skeets Mesquita, another legend in Canadian music.
I invite all Stompin' Tom and country music fans to spread the word.
