"Our biggest change since the 2019 Social EnterPrize award had to do with COVID-19. On March 17th, 2020, we shut the hotel and the gallery due to the state of e...mergency declared in BC. Prior to the reopening of the gallery and hotel, we did a lot of work on COVID protocols and how we would operate under the new COVID restrictions, in terms of sanitizing and mask-wearing." - David Eddy, CEO of Skwachàys Lodge and Vancouver Native Housing Society (VNHS) during an interview for Trico Charitable Foundation. 38 years ago, the Trico Centre for Family Wellness opened their doors with the goal of bringing greater recreation opportunities and active living to South Calg...ary residents. Today, we’re delighted to help mark this anniversary and many more others to come with a 2 million dollar investment to Trico Centre, and celebrating our continued partnership with the renewal of the naming sponsorship agreement for a second 10-year term. As a long-time supporter of health and wellness initiatives, it gives us great joy to see our commitment of doing well by doing good being reflected in Trico Centre’s programs and values. From fitness classes, leisure offerings and social gathering spaces for all ages, Trico Centre has become a community hub that is welcoming and accessible to all Calgarians. In honour of this momentous occasion, we wanted to share all the special moments and the lasting impact Trico Centre has had in the community through this short video, along with a few messages from some very special guests. Canada’s first Indigenous arts hotel, Skwachàys Lodge Aboriginal Hotel and Gallery (pronounced skwatch-eyes) is another shining example of Canada’s leadership in coming up with ingenious ways business ventures can be blended with a social mission.

Great insight by Dan Overall of Trico Charitable Foundation about the danger of falling into a ‘definition rut’ when it comes to social entrepreneurship, and the importance of shifting the conversation into one about potential. #ABCommunityAdvantage
