TSA is pleased to offer a new way for you to connect with us by telephone. We recognize not everyone has access to a computer, so we have partnered with a new company called Sermons By Phone to offer our weekly worship service to you by telephone. Each week we will upload a recording of our worship service to 613-963-0061. This is a local phone number that costs nothing to call. Simply dial in and you can hear the recording of the whole service, from the first notes of the Prelude to the sermon all the way to the final chords of the Postlude. Please feel free to share this number with anyone who might benefit from it. And please let us know if you have found this to be a helpful option to connect.

An important (but often forgotten) day in our denominational history: On this day in 1968, the United Church of Canada’s union with the Evangelical United Brethren was formalized. This included a few EUB congregations here in the Ottawa Valley. Cheers!
I received a call from a friend, who was commenting on the fact that our bubbles are getting smaller, and that that they were hearing more often that people are... "cancelling Christmas." They asked me what I'd say, if I were told that I had to cancel Christmas this year. What I said was, "It is impossible to cancel Christmas. Christmas is celebrated each time a disciple of Jesus lives love. Christmas isn't an event. Christmas *is*." Christmas is. (Thanks for the cool graphic, Fey!)
Neither snow, nor snow, nor wet snow, nor deep snow will keep Hump Day Hymns from being posted. Okay, it was pretty close but I got it done in time. This week's episode features Mike speaking via Zoom with Al Torrance. Al is a musician, a sound engineer and has served area musicians for years as President of the Upper Canada Musicians Association. They talk about Al's journey from child drummer to guitar and bass to live sound. Al also graces us with a few gospel flavoured tunes like I'll Fly Away, Teardrops Falling in the Snow and Keep on the Sunny Side. https://youtu.be/K_rooyLj3-0

We Are One World, One Family: A Prayer for a Guaranteed Livable Income God of all peoples, Creator of a grand cosmos and tiny infants Source of nurture and cre...ation, You call us into relationship with each other. We stand in our own judgement when we turn away from those who suffer. In the midst of affluence and pandemic we hear the cries of those who struggle to survive. Open our ears to those voices, and our hearts to your persuasive Spirit. May we see the needs of our neighbours and advocate for the fair distribution of resources. May we learn the politics of justice and adequacy that we may act with justice, love kindness and walk with humility. Today we remember all who struggle to survive. We specifically hold in our hearts low-income racialized communities who have experienced the most challenges with COVID. We pray for our political leaders that they act with compassion as they are asked to give leadership to implement a guaranteed livable income. Remind us, Holy Wisdom, that through your love, we encounter in each person, friend or stranger, Christs light and love in the world. Grant that we may promote the justice and acceptance that enables peace, a true shalom. Help us to remember that we are one world and one family. Amen Rev. Susan Eagle, Chair, Shining Waters Social and Ecological Justice Commission, with Barry Rieder, Jane Finch Community Ministry. This prayer lifts up the call for a guaranteed livable income program. Find out how you can participate in our vigil on Tuesday, September 22 at 12:30 p.m. local time: http://ow.ly/69Ir50BtJba Shine your light for dignity for all.
