As churches we have become institutions with all kinds of rules and laws. Sometimes the laws are very important, but sometimes they are not important at all. Yes, we have to learn when to stand firm on the things that are unwavering. But, we also need to learn when it's appropriate to bend. Take some times to listen to Rev. We are called to follow Jesus and as his followers we are called to make a difference in this world by helping those who are hurting and in need. Saints (both capital 'S' and small 's') are the people that make a difference in our lives, those who serve tirelessly and humbly in the name of Jesus. Leadership carries great responsibility, humility, and care. One day Jesus will ask us for an account of what you and I have done, what we have shared, and how we have treated those in/under our care. Jesus was revolutionary in the way he lived. So many people in Jesus' time, right up until today view illness as punishment or judgement. Jesus didn't see sickness this way. Jesus was (and is) trying to tell us that illness is NOT God's punishment. Jesus is a healer and lover or souls.
