I’ve had a lot of fun running with minimalist shoes over the last couple weeks. . The idea behind minimalist shoes is to allow your feet to function inside of the shoe the same way it would if you were running barefoot. . I was looking for several features when choosing the shoes: ... * Lightweight * Wide toe box * Low heel-to-toe drop (the difference in height between the heel and front of the shoe) * Minimal cushioning and support * Flexible shoes (both longitudinally and to torsion) . These features would help me have: - More ankle mobility - Stronger Feet - More Ground feel - Less ground reaction forces (GRF), by shifting my striking . Switching to minimalist shoes, I’ve found that I naturally converted to more of a forefoot strike. Landing more towards the front of the foot has improved the strength of my calves and probably also helped me a bit with the strength of my arches. I also haven’t had any pain in my kneecaps from running which is something that happens periodically. . Consult with a qualified physiotherapist and listen to your body when switching from one pair of shoes to another because it may lead to injury if done too quickly! . Let’s. Get. Moving. . #goldenhour #cpa#physicaltherapy #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy#canada #rehabilitation#physiocanhelp#physio #rehab #physiotherapist#orleans #ottawa #exercise #basketbal #fitness #wellness #injuryprevention #manualtherapy #pain #sportsphysiotherapy #sportsphysio#pt #injury @ Orleans, Ontario See more

We are so very pleased to announce that our team is growing. Please help me welcome Sabrina Ait-ouali who will be joining our clinic as a Certified Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist. We are so excited for her to join the team! . What is Pelvic Health Physiotherapy? Pelvic health physiotherapy is the management of health conditions related to the pelvis and its surrounding structures. .... What is the Pelvic Floor? The pelvic floor consists of muscles that sit within our pelvic girdle, attaching from our pubic bone to our tailbone and our sits bones. They provide important functions, including bowel and bladder control, internal organ support, sexual health, and child birth. These muscles also act as an integral part of our core musculature, providing stability and strength to our low backs. . What can go wrong? Pelvic floor dysfunction occurs when these structures become overactive or under-active. . Hyperactivity of the pelvic floor can contribute to common issues such as chronic pelvic pain, constipation, and painful intercourse, while under-activity can lead to conditions such as incontinence and a frequent need to urinate. The root cause of such dysfunctions varies greatly, and can affect women, men, and children. . If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us! We’re here and happy to help. . #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy #pelvicfloor #pelvicfloordysfunction #pelvichealth #physiocanhelp #physiotherapy #orleans #ottawa @ Orleans, Ontario See more
