Weekends are starting to feel normal again. Today, we had a safe group ride out to Iona and back (with the all important coffee stop in the middle!). Our kits are looking sharp. We’ve realized we’re going to need matching socks now ;)
NORTH SHORE TRIATHLON UPDATE - April 9th, 2020 Triathlon BC recently informed us that most events through to the end of July have been cancelled. We had been working with the North Vancouver Recreation Commission (NVRC) to establish a practical postponement date in August. Unfortunately, the uncertainty around when gathering restrictions will be relaxed left us with no confidence we could manage event logistics on what could turn out to be a very short timeline. Consequently we are, with regret, cancelling the 2020 North Shore Triathlon. All registered participants have had their race entries moved forward to the 2021 event.
NORTH SHORE TRIATHLON - UPDATE - March 30th, 2020 The 31st North Shore Triathlon will not be proceeding as planned on May 18th. All North Vancouver recreation facilities are closed for an undetermined period of time and the government has issued a public health notice prohibiting gatherings of more than 50 people. We are currently working with the Recreation Commission to determine the practicality of rescheduling the event for August. We are hopeful that a suitable date can ...be found and equally hopeful that the current public health situation will have abated by then to the point that public gatherings will once again be possible. Both of the upcoming race orientation sessions planned for April 4th and May 2nd have been cancelled. We expect a more definitive answer from the Recreation Commission on an August date within two weeks and will update you as soon as more information is available.
Important COVID-19 Update Triathlon BC announced yesterday that all sanctioned events up to April 30th will be cancelled and that they will reassess the situation in mid-April. While this ban does not immediately affect the North Shore Triathlon we have to consider the possibility that our race may not proceed as planned. We are in regular contact with Triathlon BC and are monitoring the situation closely. We will be providing updates here as new information emerges. We remai...n hopeful that the race will go ahead. We are, however, looking at contingency plans in case that is not possible. We understand how frustrating and disappointing something like this can be. Nevertheless, as event organizers we must do everything possible to ensure not only the health and safety of our participants but the health and safety of the community as a whole. Effective immediately, we are suspending any additional race registrations until the situation stabilizes. We will continue to monitor the situation as it develops and will provide another update in approximately two weeks.
