It looks like we've been blessed with another great weather day! I might have to get out for an afternoon hike! One of my favourite trail systems is the Humber Valley Heritage Trail (HVHT). We like to start from the parking lot at Duffy's Lane and Emil Kolb Parkway and then go west. Have you heard about the Region of Peel's new program called "My Home Second Unit Renovation?" Eligible homeowners can now apply to renovate an existing second unit in their homes. This initiative provides up to a maximum of $20,000 by way of a forgivable loan to eligible homeowners who need to upgrade and legalize their existing second unit. ... A second unit is described as a separate, contained unit that includes a kitchen, bathroom and living space within an existing home that can be used for rental purposes. For the unit to be legal, the unit must be registered or licensed by the local municipality, meeting all Building and Fire code requirements. The goal of this program is to assist homeowners with transitioning their existing, unregistered second unit to be a legal, registered second unit.
