Kane - Anogeissus leiocarpus Kane is another lesser known species that has a beautiful dark heart wood surrounded by a blonde sapwood. This picture shows guitar neck blanks, similar to those typically produced in Ebony. It would make beautiful furniture as well.
Have you ever wanted bright yellow wood? This is Kusia - one of our lesser known species.
Triton and its subsidiary CSRD donated all of the wood used to build the slow sand filtration system in the community of Aveme.
While not a forest that Triton could harvest, this underwater forest off of Alabama is pretty incredible. http://blog.al.com///03/ancient_underwater_forest_off.html
We are very excited to share an article written by two of our staff that was included in the UN's recent publication of Nature & Faune. We were invited by the magazine to write the article in the issue entitled: Managing Africa’s water resources: integrating sustainable use of land, forest and fisheries. http://www.tritonlogging.com/news/
We were recently featured in a Swedish Agriculture and logging newspaper. It is essentially a background story of Triton and what we are doing in Ghana. Enjoy the pictures! http://www.tritonlogging.com/news/
Typically, when a dam is erected and a reservoir is flooded, the clearing of trees represents a delay in the dam construction and is often not completed. With enormous plans for more dams in the Brazil and Latin America in the coming years, Triton represents an intriguing alternative to recover the lost resource of these flooded forests. http://www.hydroworld.com//brazil-a-stronghold-of-hydro-de
These samples are of some of our lesser known species in Ghana. Let us know what you think.
We're hiring! If you are or know a talented Executive Assistant please send us an application. See http://www.tritonlogging.com/careers/ for more information.
Major news from Interpol. Nearly 200 people arrested through an illegal logging investigation in South and Latin America. Could this herald the start of more serious investigations into illegal logging? We certainly hope so.... Here are some articles: https://secure.interpol.int//PressReleases/PR2013/PR017.asp http://www.latimes.com//la-fg-wn-interpol-illegal-logging- http://www.globalwitness.org//major-breakthrough-fight-end
Tom is standing beside a five foot diameter Odum (Iroko) log. This is a beauty!
A welcome reward! Our team in Rio de Janeiro recently finished its analysis of three reservoirs for a client and spent the last few days enjoying the sights and sounds of Carnival!
A sad truth and altogether too common. We continue to hope that logging companies will realize the error of operating like this, and that manufacturers and end-customers will choose suppliers like Triton, who are operating entirely within the law. http://www.greenpeace.org//the-huge-scale-of-i/blog/43789/
