We are pleased to announce that our unionized employees have ratified a 3-year collective agreement today. The contract gives Tropicana the ability to sustainably offer culturally appropriate and supportive programs today and in the future. We want to thank the many funders, clients, partners and community at large for their unwavering support during this negotiating process. Special thanks to the employees who helped us maintain all our programs and services during the strike. We welcome our unionized team members back to work and look forward to focusing our energies on what we all agree matters most meeting the needs of the Caribbean, Black and African communities.
We made the decision today to part ways with a Labour Relations Consultant who was a member of our union negotiating team. This decision was based on online comments that are unacceptable to our organization and to our community. For 40 years, Tropicana has always stood for the values of equality, respect for the individual and social responsibility. This organization will not stand by when compromise of those values come to light within our ranks. We will separate ourselves immediately. That is what we have done, and we are moving forward. We have taken steps to fill the position and are ready to return to the negotiating table at any time.
