Trout Creek Greenhouse 05.12.2020

Well we certainly are moving through November with some great weather. Two years ago on this day it was -10 with ice and snow everywhere, even last year at this time we had snow. So lets be grateful for at least the weather. This happened here in Arkansas back on 2005. The snow and ice storm hit in November and the mums and poppies were encased like this like a flower in an icicle

WOW, I never knew what the final product looked like of these tasty morsels, even after all these years of being at the greenhouse. All these off of 3 stalks

Dear Facebook friends, 2020 has been a year like no other. COVID-19 has impacted us all, and certainly also in the greenhouse operation. An uncertain start was followed by a flurry of sales which came to a quick end when most of the plants were sold. I was able to enjoy a restful summer, with time to re-evaluate the business of Trout Creek Acres. As many of you know, this was the passion of Ted (my late husband). He had so much pleasure in growing plants and interacting with ...customers. Many of you became his friend through his time at the Campbellford Farmers Market. After 27 years, 6 without Ted alongside, it is my intention to make next season, 2021, the close of this chapter. My loyal and competent staff will all be here for another kick at the can. A sincere thank you to Wendy, who has been a familiar face here since 2007, stepping back from the greenhouse but actively keeping the Facebook page up to date with her unique spin. Since the success of Trout Creek Acres greenhouse is in large part thanks to you, the customers, I would encourage you to keep gardening. The benefits are many. We welcome you here next spring when the greenhouse will be bursting with plants ready to bring joy to your gardens. Many thanks for your support and friendship over the years. Stay safe and see you in the spring. Judy

I know many people had a horrible year with these little pests. Thought this was very interesting, so get out there and check out your trees.

This just shows us, that all colours can live together in harmony. Definitely 2 different colours growing on the same plant. Not sure how it happened, as I never planted this late bloomer in the garden. Planted royal velvet wave petunia in planters over 20 ft away. It certainly is a mystery, but possibly the bees may be the answer.

Hello there Greenhouse Friends Now that we have had the first few frosts, I am sure your plants are looking a bit sad. Now is the time to dump & clean your pots and planters, so that everything is ready to go in the spring. Nothing worse than trying to empty them in the spring when the soil is like concrete.... If you do bring your containers in for custom planting we need them cleaned out and empty of debris. I even like to strip most things out of the beds, so everything has a fresh start. Now bring on a few good days Mother Nature, so we can get out there and play in the dirt, one more time. See more

PUTTING YOUR GARDENS TO BED. UNFORTUNATELY IT IS TIME TO THINK ABOUT THE CLOSING OF GARDENS, AND PREPARE FOR WINTER. Have to say the weather this spring and summer was beautiful, maybe a bit to hot at times but at least we had lots of time to fuss, with staying at home and being safe....Continue reading

Hard to believe that summer is coming to an end. Have to say it has been a great summer weather wise. Maybe a bit to hot for some, but lots of sunny skies when Covid has us feeling so grey.

We all know that soil truly effects your plants and flowers. So thought this may be helpful for some of you.

Well Greenhouse Friends The time has come for a much needed rest for Judy, after a incredible unusual season. Judy and staff really had to work hard to keep everyone safe and continue to provide the service they have been noted for, from the beginning of the Greenhouse many years ago. The quality of the plants were amazing this season, and we could not believe how fast the greenhouse emptied, definitely a first to end a season at the end of June. Hope you are enjoying your gardens, lots of extra time to play in the dirt this year with all that's not going on. Enjoy your summer, stay safe and as always thank-you for your patronage.
