We know that most people are still in summer mode- and so are we! But it is never too early to start thinking about preparing your property for those chilly winter months. And what better time to winter proof your home, then while the temperature outside is still pleasant? See some tips below for getting your property ready for the winter: - Run your ceiling fans in reverse! Most fans give you the option to change the direction that the blades spin and doing so can help the w...arm air flow in your home. When your fan is spinning counter clockwise (in the summer), it is moving cool air down. Whereas changing the direction in the winter to clockwise will eliminate all the hot air rising and will evenly disperse it throughout your home. - Repair exterior caulking! Having cracked caulking can start to damage your windows and sills over time and can also be a source for water getting into your home. By repairing the cracked caulking, your home will be less drafty which will help you save on your energy bills! - Check/Replace your carbon monoxide detector! We are inside much more in the winter months and your furnace generates carbon monoxide as it heats your home. Check batteries often and test the detector often as well. Plan ahead and call the professionals at True-Care Restoration. True CareEvery Step of the Way!

We are fortunate that we have had so much sunshine already this summer! But while we are in the heart of summer, it is always good to think about potential damage caused by storms. Here are some tips to prevent damage to your home during a storm: - Clean your gutters! A build up of leaves and dirt can prevent water from being able to drain, causing it to settle around the roof of your house causing water damage. - Check your foundation! If there are any cracks/gaps, water co...uld seep into your home during heavy rain or a storm. - Inspect the trees on your property! Dead or diseased trees are not as structurally sound as live trees and are more prone to falling in a storm involving high winds. - Have your roof inspected each year! By doing so you will be able to correct any issues before they get too serious. Roof maintenance could even lower your home insurance rates! - Monitor leaks and conditions that could cause mold and mildew to appear! Seasonal changes tend to affect HVAC and plumbing systems. Try reducing the amount of moisture in your house to prevent this. Lastly, something to remember: - A thunderstorm WATCH simply means weather conditions are perfect for a large storm and there could be one looming. - A thunderstorm WARNING means there is a severe storm confirmed in your area and you should seek shelter right away. If a storm damages your home or business enough for an insurance claim, leave it to the professionals at True-Care Restoration. True CareEvery Step of the Way!
