Still growing strong on my gel growth removal method. Shorten, buff, seal, repeat. Background story. I did this set of nails on myself on February 19th. It is April 30th today. That is 10 weeks of growth! I have not popped, broken or chipped a single nail during this time. Ive been looking after 3 kids, gardening, painting, building club houses, cleaning like a mad women, not wearing gloves while washing dishes and living with no restrictive behaviour changes to keep my nai...ls. You may argue that I am a nail tech and this makes it easier for me to do my own nails. Yes I have the skills but I have been using only what my clients would have on hand. A nail file, buffer, polish remover and top coat. I spend about 15 minutes once a week doing the steps listed above. For an inexperienced person I would say 20-30 minutes a week is all you need. My nails are healthy because of the wonderful gel products I used when I did this set 10 weeks ago. Shortened my nails a second time using these steps. 1. Remove old polish using acetone free polish remover. 2. Shorten nails using rough grit nail file. 3. Buff top and edges of nail to soften and smooth. 4. Wipe dust off nails with polish remover. ... 5. Apply clear polish of choice before adding colour or leave clear. A couple of you have been asking how to deal with growing your nails out over the next few weeks and Id like to offer some advice on how to do this with as little damage to the nail plate as possible. 1. File not cut: cutting the gel will crack the gel and possibly your nail plate underneath so to avoid this it is advised to file extra length from the free edge of your nail. 2. Top coat: using a top coat from cuticles to free edge tip will help prev...ent lifting and separation from occurring as your nails grow out and you are shortening them. 3. Plan of return: when the dust settles and Trueloves Day Spa opens I plan to work with clientele who have missed appointments to rehabilitate their nails. 4. Ears of service: I have been in this industry for 16 years and if there is one thing Ive learned it is that many clients come to see me not only for my kick ass services but as a confidant, advisor, friend and safe place to talk. Look at that silver! At 33(almost 34) you would think to see all that silver (gray) hair I might be thinking oh man do I need a box of dye. I have dyed my hair many times all different colours but this colour (or lack there of) is mine. How Badass would it be for us to shine bright without all the cover ups. Would going gray make me look older. Sure probably but so do the wrinkles around my eyes and the lines on my forehead and little baby pouch after having my kids. Its all me and I am 33.
