True North Aid is proud to support elders the Anishnaabeg of Kabapikotawanag Resource Council communities with freshwater whitefish from the Hale Fisheries, an Indigenous lead business in Sioux Narrows, Ontario. Freshwater whitefish has been a food staple for Indigenous people in the north, whether it was cooked or smoke and has always been relied on for sustenance. With this delivery, over 120 elders were able to be supported. Thank you to all involved who made this project possible!

Carolyn King's "Moccasin Identifier" website has gone live It’s a municipal and provincially supported educational initiative that helps to explain who the Indi...genous people of Ontario are, and the locations of their traditional territories. In brief, each band and territory had specific a moccasin design. In addition to photos of existing installations at major cultural landmarks, the website offers a curriculum-based materials kit for school children, and access to stencils for them to paint (water-soluble) the appropriate moccasin on the sidewalk near their school - or wherever they want. https://moccasinidentifier.com/

From the Executive Director of The Pas Friendship Centre in Manitoba; Our thanks from all of us at The Pas Friendship Centre Inc. We were so grateful for the 3 pallets of flour. We sent 1/2 Pallet to Grand Rapids, 1/2 pallet is allotted to Easterville. Unfortunately at this time all Northern communities are on lockdown due to growing positive cases of COVID-19. We also shared 1 pallet with our Tri -community neighbours Opaskwayak Cree Nation. We kept a pallet to distrib...ute to our Food Bank families over the next few months. These gifts make an enormous impact for countless families. We are so appreciative to be a part of this initiative and that because of it we are able to assist those who are less fortunate. Once again, thank you so much for your tremendous support and for all you do to make this program a success.

From Tyadg McGauley, project lead for the Lightning Dawn Program: I just wanted to let you know we accomplished a huge milestone last night. I have secured 3 terrific trainers from the local area to work with the kids at Enoch River Cree. Already we are making an impact. The coaches are telling me that their players are taking this season much more seriously. Before we came, their practices and training sessions were very basic and rudimentary. Players often didn't show up ...and when they did they put very little effort into things. I sat and watched them the first week and I saw how behind they were in regards to the rest of the hockey world. Players know when they're doing something lackluster versus doing something that's exponentially increasing their skill. Now with Om implemented in their minor hockey association, they know that they have something real here. Something to take seriously and take advantage of. When you have a professional grade program in your community you all the sudden become a lot more invested in what's going on. It took a lot of work and time to get here. This has never been done before and a lot of times it feels like we're deep in the jungle with a machete carving a new path to god knows where haha. But we did it. Enoch is complete and it will run for a very long time. This is an engine of positivity that will have a massive impact on this community throughout the years. And it's the first of many. What we learned here will be applicable for the rest of the country as we build and deploy more and more engines of positivity all across these communities. I want to thank you for your help and support. This is a flame that was guarded and delicate but you helped us feed it and nurture it into a blaze that it is today. This is a flame that will spark hope and light into some of the darkest and most neglected corners of our country. I am very thankful and happy that I met you guys and your organization. I know we will continue to do incredible things together.
