The Cane - - Used to free up areas that feel stuck or restricted. There are many brands of these but I found this one in @canadiantire sports section. I’ve never posted about it, but it’s been in the gym for awhile. -... - The general idea is that you place the round tip at areas that are typically known to cause movement restrictions, and areas that need to be manipulated for stress relief. - - Grab One at CT and Follow For More Tips - #selfmassage #healthy #personaltrainer See more

Need Structure??? Need Competition?!? - Here is @truenorthtraining athlete Luca working through a strength circuit in the family backyard. In this primarily upper body circuit we program one leg exercise (pulse squats) to mimic a long shift that would put a player into fatigue. - -... IF YOU HAVE A TEAM OF YOUNG ATHLETES... CONTACT TNT - - As we progress through the phases of re-opening in Ontario we will be back to team sports performance and athletic development training in an outdoor format. We will lead groups in safely-distanced training, and allow them to get back to some much needed socializing and team building. - These are Skills For Life, not Just Sports! And They Are Essential Skills! - #development #coaching #sports See more

Get Back To Your Roots - - Ever since my childhood, being by the lake has always brought me peace and happiness. Yet I’ve realized over time, that has NOT changed. -... I ran down to the beach today with the @inertiawave for a nice session. But, of all these exercises I want to point out the intricacy of the very first. - I would recommend only using this single leg landing drill for advanced athletes as another way to progress their deceleration abilities while being acting on by an external force. - This is critically important for all athletes! - But whether you’re an athlete or, you don’t believe you are... get outside today and enjoy it! - #fitness #healthy #outdoorworkout #sunshine See more

Run, Walk, Roll, or Mosey - Just Get Out And Express Your Capabilities - - Running is one of the most inclusive environments/sports I have ever been a part of. I have watched wheelchair athletes pass me by, Bllack Canadian blind runners shouting with joy for every step completed! I have envied the stride of a barefoot Asian Canadian runner, and I have admired the determination of a mom pushing her posse of kids in a stroller for an entire marathon. -... - The World Needs More Running!!! - - HAPPY #GLOBALRUNNINGDAY #running #runnersofinstagram See more

10 Things You May Not Know About Me & Things I Wanna Know About You! - Of All The Facts I Reveal, I’ll Have Questions For You At The End! - 1. The biggest fish I’ve ever caught was thiiiiisss big! I caught it off the dock I’m standing on, early in the morning, before the parents woke up! You can imagine the rest of the kids running up to the cottage about the fish someone caught, and the parents not caring at all. ... - 2. When group sports existed, I did colour commentary for @niagaraspears for multiple years 3. My auntie rowed in multiple Olympic Games. 4. I like to plant things. Mainly fruits and veggies because you eat them after. Flowers are okay, as long as their perennials! Lol. 5. I played baseball, hockey, badminton, soccer, track and field (shotput, discus, 400 hurdles) when I was younger, and I rowed as well. My brother Tom and I won the first medal for Blessed Trinity ever. We finished second in a double. This was in the beginning stages of BT Rowing. 6. Its hard to describe how many movies i watch - It’s Alot! For the most part, TV is crap! But of TV shows, Seinfeld & The Office are the best... By A Mile! Favourite Movies: Gangs of New York, Braveheart, Old School, 1917, in no order 7. I travelled alone to Thailand, and London a few years ago! I took mass at Westminster Abbey early on a Sunday morning. I also visited Maya Bay, where The Beach was filmed. 8. I ran 3 Marathons last year. 3:50, 4:01, 3:57 9. Sour Cream & Onion chips are my kryptonite. But only Ruffles, none of that other crap. 10. I have consistently weighed 200 to 210 for the last decade of my life. My weight will drop below 200 if I eat poorly for a few days in a row. Bonus Fact: I do not fear failure... because I fail hard every day! The quicker you realize that failing is okay... the quicker you start making progress. - So, Tell Me About You! 1. Biggest fish? 2. Whats the coolest sporting event you’ve been to? 3. Whats the oddest sport you have competed in? 4. Do you have a greenthumb? Whats your fav fruit or veggie? 5. What is your guilty pleasure snack? 6. What was your favourite travel destination? 7. What’s your hidden skill!? _______________ #OpenUp @ True North Training

Different Intentions for Different People #FindYourTrueNorth - - But these are essentially the same movement. Just because a person is doing one or the other doesn’t make it incorrect! But knowing the difference is essential. -... - Why this matters is more so from an athletic standpoint - IF YOU ARE AN ATHLETE and YOUR PROGRAM CALLS FOR ANY PLYOMETRIC MOVEMENT... IT MUST BE DONE WITH MAXMIM EFFORT - - Furthermore, the squat jumps can serve as an exercise modification for the Vertical Jump in environments with height restrictions, or if you don’t feel comfortable with it! - - This can be done with ANY EXERCISE that a person may not be equipped to do, but in those cases... a Trained Coach is Essential. __________________________________ #sportsperformance #athlete #offseason

Follow This Five Exercise Template For Your At-Home Training... - Give someone tacos, feed them for a day... teach someone to make delicious tacos, feed them for life - To give you random workouts has never been the goal, to inspire and teach you how to move confidently on your own... now that is an entirely different goal altogether.... - A typical exercise template might look as follows: 1 Total Body Pull - put the most demanding/complex exercise here 2 Upper Body Push - work opposing muscles to first exercise. If you pushed first, pull second. 3 Upper Body Pull - less complex assistance exercise for exercise 1. Whatever exercise you put first, put an assistance exercise for that, in this 3rd spot 4 Lower Body Skill/Regeneration - the term filler exercise is terrible so I do not use it. You can use a more positive term to increase commitment to the task. Put an exercise here that will not fatigue muscles used earlier, but will benefit you by develop a skill, or mobilizing tight tissues. 5 Lower Body Repetition - optional - finish the set with a lower body burnout to fatigue! - - The concept of upper body and lower body exercises is flawed for athletic development because all exercises must be performed with total body awareness to improve output. - The intention and goals of your training will largely determine the weights and rest periods you use for a set like this. - If You Need More Guidance Ask Me Anything ______________________________ #coach #fitness #training #strong See more
