Feeding Tube Awareness Week Odin’s has been tube fed since birth, due to having a cleft palate and not being able to create the negative pressure required for sucking. It would cause him to burn more calories trying to eat than what he would be able to take in. Odin was fitted with a nasogastric tube in the NICU. We used this NG tube to feed him using a pump until he was about 8.5 months old. ... At this time we decided it was best to proceed with a gastrostomy tube or G tube. This is a tube surgically inserted into the stomach from his belly. The stomach is attached to the abdominal wall and the small tube reaches the stomach directly, rather that through the nose, down the throat and into the stomach like the NG. Odin was becoming a pro at pulling out his NG, and it was a lot of stress on him and us to reinsert over and over, up to 10 times a day sometimes. So we made the move and he was scheduled for surgery. Odin healed well from surgery and after a couple days was crawling away. We were able to move from the pump and do bolus feeding from a syringe. This was night and day for us! The syringe bolus feeding was 10x faster, he tolerated it excellently and it was much easier than trying to hook up a moving speed crawler and death roller to a pump with lines lol Odin is currently recovering from his palate repair and we hope this year he will graduate from his g tube as well! As long as he keeps up the good work it could happen by fall

Haven’t been very active the last year+. Hoping to change this with the coming new year and once things have settled. With enough interest I may be looking to try some portraits/shooting as well.
