Plans Remain for January 18 Return to In-Person Learning As part of SRPSD’s ongoing conversations with the local Health team, they have indicated a confident ex...pectation that schools will return to in-person learning on January 18, 2021 as planned. Remote learning is difficult for many. SRPSD is thankful and impressed by the amazing work of staff and the strong support from families during this period of required remote learning. If there is any change to the return date, Health has committed to provide as much notice as possible so schools and families have time to prepare. See more
Schools are safe places for students and staff, but we need your help. Wearing a mask and keeping your family bubble tight helps prevent community transmission ...and keeps everyone healthy, including our students and staff and their families. We're asking you to do your part so we can keep doing ours. Everyone has someone they need to stay healthy for. LEARN MORE: http://ow.ly/zsoA50CyGy9
Here’s some perspective on the difficult (and urgent) decision to move all Prince Albert & area schools to a Level 4 (remote learning). In the upcoming week, as teachers, students and families make difficult pivots to remote learning & then holidays, my hope is that we are kind in our expectations, calm in our responses and compassionate in our actions. We are all juggling and we are all in this together. Everyone who is pivoting deserves full mutual respect and empathy. Kevin Cameron, top guru @ the North America Threat Assessment & Trauma Response, suggests that what students need most right now is healthy connections/conversations, and for us all to speak hopefully about 2021. That’s what I plan to do - so that this time, next year, we will look back and be proud of how we pulled together and persevered.
There’s so many great things happening in Sask. Rivers to advance reconciliation. These efforts are important for student achievement, overall. And, yes. There’s more good work to do. I’m proud to be part of a culture that is moving forward with dedicated actions that support reconciliation.
When asked What gets in the way of student success & well-being?, public voice is clear. Mental health issues top the list (SSBA #ConnectionsReport, 2019). A strong vision for education in Saskatchewan includes sustained investment & interagency collaboration to support mental wellness in schools. Great to see government commit $400K to training 1 mental health responder in each of 744 #SaskEd schools. Also, kudos to boards who continue to invest locally in mental wellnes...s strategies. IE) By prioritizing mental wellness & literacy @SRPSD119 has now trained +200 staff in mental health response as part of its Mental Health Action Plan. And kudos to students, like Tia-Lee McCallum, who continue to use their voices to identify and call for the resources and tools they need for success in learning, school and life. Especially now. #StudentVoice #SaskRiversProud #LocalVoicesLocalChoices
Absolutely LOVE this. Can’t sing these days? Learn sign. Kudos to Mrs. Lepine & Ecole Vickers for creating a language-rich classroom & teaching their Gr. 1s O Canada in #ASL for their morning routine. To teachers, pivoting daily, thank-you for keeping classrooms safe & vibrant! #SaskRiversProud
