January is Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Awareness Month. No matter where we live, it is happening all around us and The Salvation Army in Alberta & Nort...hern Territories continues to stand up to make a difference. Did you know? The average age of entry into the sex trade is between 12 and 14 years old. On any given day, 17,000 Canadians are living in modern slavery. #SAStandUpStepUpSpeakUp Together, let's raise awareness about the realities of modern slavery and human trafficking. We are grateful to Aurora Dodge Yellowknife for their donation in support of our programs in Yellowknife and communities of the NWT. Their donation will help us continue to meet human needs and give hope to those who are in need.

Yesterday we participated in "A Day of a Thousand Lunches," by distributing winter care kits to members of our community. In total, we handed out almost 100 kits to those in need! This is part of #HopeintheCity event that will be broadcast on Thursday November 19, 2020. Check out www.salvationarmy.ca/alberta/hitc2020 for more details. We are grateful again this year to have the support of NorthwesTel for their Annual Toy Drive. This year, they surprised us with a $5000 donation to go towards the Toy Drive in addition to collecting them. Events such as this bring the community together for the common goal of supporting those who are facing difficult times this Christmas. Thank you to our friends at Northwestel for the continued support and generosity.... #Northwestel #TheSalvationArmy #Yellowknife #ToyDrive #GivingHopeToday #Christmas #Community
