Jordan's Principle makes sure all First Nations children living in Canada can access the products, services and supports they need, when they need them. Funding can help with a wide range of health, social and educational needs, including the unique needs that First Nations Two-Spirit and LGBTQQIA children and youth and those with disabilities may have. Jordan's Principle is named in memory of Jordan River Anderson. He was a young boy from Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba.... Requests for Inuit children can be made through the Inuit Child First Initiative. COVID UPDATE: During the coronavirus pandemic, Jordan's Principle continues to help First Nations children living in Canada access the products, services and supports they need. This can include, for example, laptops, tablets or other e-learning tools, if they meet an identified health, education or social need. At this time, professionals may not be available to provide supporting documents normally required to complete a request. We will take this into account when we review your request. In some cases, we will accept emails from professionals or documents can be provided later in the process. To find out more, contact your regional focal point. They also provide support for off-reserve. They are their own Department at ISC. https://www.canada.ca//ind/services/jordans-principle.html Available 24 hours, 7 days a week Jordan's Principle Call Centre: 1-855-JP-CHILD (1-855-572-4453) The box on the right hand side will help you navigate the services: Access Jordan's Principle Find a contact person in your region Submit a request under Jordan's Principle Seek a reimbursement Appeal a decision Download posters to print

Another storm arrives Tuesday morning. Wind warnings are up for North, West, East and South Vancouver Island but, thankfully, not the Port Alberni area. Having said that, Port Alberni may have winds of 60 km/hr starting Tuesday morhing and lasting until the evening. 60 km/hr may bring a few branches down but nothing serious if it stays at 60. Rain warnings are also up for West Vancouver Island with "at least" 100mm expected there. Friends and relatives in Bamfield and Ni...tinaht can expect water over the roads again given how high the Sarita River and Nitnaht Lake are and given how saturated the ground is. BC Ferries has already cancelled many sailings tomorrow in anticipation of the storm as there is a good possibility with winds of 90 km/hr expected in the Salish Sea. Port Alberni should get 25 to 55 mm of rain which should not cause any problems if it stays at no more than 55. Next bout of rain should arrive Friday and last through Sunday. ~Hugh Braker See more

Good morning: We are once again testing the functionality of Alert Ready on Wednesday, November 25, (tomorrow) at 1:55 p.m. PST, 2:55 p.m. MST. The Alert will be heard and/or seen on most wireless devices, Canadian television channels, and on Canadian radio programs. More information on Alert Ready and the test can be found at https://www.emergencyinfobc.gov.bc.ca/alert-ready-wireless/. A press release regarding this test of the Alert Ready system can be found at: https:...//news.gov.bc.ca/23308 As mentioned on EmergencyInfoBC we are also participating in the following survey this year. Survey: British Columbians may wish to participate in a short online survey following the test to help determine the reach of the Alert Ready test. This survey is administered by Public Emergency Alerting Services Inc (PEASI). Survey link in English: https://peasi.com/emergency-alert-test-survey.html Survey link in French: https://peasi.com/enquete-de-test-dalerte-durgence.html It would be very helpful if you, and/or your contacts, could find time to fill in and submit the survey. Thank you very much for helping us ensure this valuable resource is working as expected. Thank you!"" -Hugh
