Virtual vet school tours! Virtual Veterinary Tours Introduce School Kids to Animal Care and Benefit VWB/VSF Veterinarians without Borders is delighted to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries of an on-line event for schools offered next week by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA). Please forward this e-mail to teachers, parents who are home schooling, or anyone else involved in educating children. CVMA is co-hosting a live virtual field trip for schools all ...across Canada and the United States on Friday, February 26, 2021. Veterinarians Dr. Louis Kwantes and Dr. Trevor Lawson will join celebrated children’s author Sigmund Brouwer for a one-hour presentation. This event is based on Sigmund’s new book for elementary school readers Pasture Bedtime about two children who assist a veterinarian and learn some great life lessons. This event is accessible for all students in classrooms or at home. Along with great real-life animal stories (with accompanying video footage) and sharing advice on how to reach their dreams through the importance of reading and writing skills, Dr. Kwantes and Dr. Lawson will respond directly to student questions about pets and wild animals. Students will learn how to help their family pets during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as prepare pets for life after the lockdown. Sigmund Brouwer, author of more than 100 titles for children, (storyninjawritingclasses.com) will talk about the inspiring true stories that led to the book, and also share fun story ninja advice to encourage great reading and writing habits. Homeschool students can join with a family pass for $5, a classroom can join for $75, and an entire school, including all students and teachers, can join for $175. Please note: Drs. Kwantes and Lawson are offering their time free of charge and half the proceeds will be donated to Veterinarians without Borders Canada. We’ve included information below about how easy it is to host this safe and secure virtual event, either in classrooms or at home, through Zoom, Meet, or Teams. You can chose either or both registration times for the same fee: 11:00 a.m. EST or 1:00 p.m EST, on Friday, February 26. Please direct any questions about the event to: [email protected] While the event is geared towards children in grades 3 to 8, all are welcome. Please share! **update** THANK YOU for sharing her story far and wide!! It’s been shared almost 250 times!!! ... (I have gotten a lot of messages and questions, and I want to ask that everyone PLEASE READ this write up and all the comments before you message asking questions or wanting to apply for Blanche. ) Our sweet girl has already had two potential adoptions fall through for her, so we are once again on the hunt for the perfect fit! Blanche is looking for a family who will love her exactly how she is, and promise to make her their first priority! She is 12 years old, so she won’t have a full life ahead of her, and that’s important that her people understand that, and just stay present to enjoy every day they are given with her. This poor girl has struggled and fought for everything in her life, and I want to leave those days far behind her. She deserves to be treated like the Queen she KNOWS she is! She is incredibly tender, warm, and cuddly with her people, but she rules other dogs with an iron fist.. So I think Blanche would prefer to be an only dog she can relax and not feel like she has control other pups and fight for attention. We will never know how much time she has left, but what I can tell you is how much love she has to give! She so desperately wants a human of her own, and to spend every moment with them! This girl is so obsessed with her people she doesn’t even need a leash! She will never choose to leave your side. She makes me laugh every day, and gives me her whole heart. So please consider making room for this sweet senior girl in your family, or help her find her family by sharing this post! #adopt #adoptable #rescue #rescuedog #yyj #yyjdogs #dogsofvictoria #dogsofinstagram #dogsofvictoriabc #vanisle #poodle #cockapoo #adoptme #mutt #adorable #oneye #senior #love #adorable #autumn
