Snowy day at the lodge! Who's up for making a snowman?
Thirty Years, What an Awesome surprise Wow, I don’t even know how to express the special heartfelt thanks to all of you who sent in video clips congratulating me on my thirtieth anniversary of owning Tsylos. It completely took me by surprise. Thirty years, it seems like a blink of an eye. It’s made up of millions of special moments captured in my mind and heart with each and every one of you. From roaming the mountains on horseback, floating the river trying to catch an elus...ive trout, laughing around the dinner table, or even just listening to great music watching the sun set. Of course, cannot forget those other special moments when the horses took off over the next hill, the boat motor wouldn’t start, or when the wind blew, and we had to go up the lake anyway. These have been the multifaceted adventures of Tsylos. To Josh who coordinated and was responsible for the celebration a big gigantic thank you, he did an amazing job putting it all together and making this video. For Josh and everyone else who kept this a secret for three long weeks, impressive! That was an amazing feat in itself around Tsylos. I did not have a clue! Thank you so much for all who sent their best wishes, for the beautiful gifts, the wonderful cake! I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did.

Saying goodbye to Maverick It’s with a great deal of sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Maverick. Maverick was an interesting horse. He was raised by hand as a young orphan and I think he thought he was more human then horse. Which is great from a human perspective but not so great when he was introduced into our herd. He had zero social skills and really did not know how to conduct himself as a horse. Which is why I believe he became such an excellent guide... horse. He found his spot as being a top guide horse and beloved by all the guides who rode him, but especially by Kalin and Bud. Maverick was definitely a horse to ride the mountains with. All of us have wonderful memories and adventures with Maverick. His last official job was carrying Kalin during her wedding ceremony. He was much beloved by Kalin. Maverick was very independent horse. Over the years he learned all the tricks. One of his favorites was outmaneuvering the riders during round up. The one thing you could count on when you went to round up horses, that Maverick and his other buddies would be the first to look up, and the first to head for the hills and hide in the thickest nastiest bush they could find. Although we loved Maverick, he also endeared a lot of swear words over the years. It took him many years before he finally learned, adapted, and found his own little herd. He spent his retirement years being on the open range in the summer with his buddies just being a horse. The last couple of winters he was loved and cared for by Gary who hand fed him every day to make sure he remained healthy for the last of his winters. He had a long and happy life. He will be sadly missed by his other retirement buddies, Duke, Rockford, and Copper. A special thank you to Gary and David for being with Maverick at the end of his time. It is never easy losing a beloved horse.
