To celebrate commercial drivers, the Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) organizes Driver Appreciation Days across the province each year. This year, the... association held five events, which took place at vehicle inspection stations across Southern Alberta from September 1-18. On Friday, September 18, Sheriff Highway Patrol members partnered with the AMTA to host the final driver appreciation day at the Leduc Vehicle Inspection Station. While following all Alberta Health Services protocols, volunteers gathered at the site to build gift bags and hand them to drivers as they passed through the station. Throughout the day, volunteers handed out more than 500 care packages, which each included a bottle of water, an apple, hand sanitizer, personal protective equipment and other stationery items. Commercial vehicle drivers are essential to the prosperity of our province and we thank them for the work they do every day.
