To commemorate 400 years since 'The Mayflower' sailed from London a scroll with a message of greeting was signed on the Terrace of the Palace of Westminster by ...the Speaker of the House of Commons, Lord West for the Lord Speaker in the presence of the US Ambassador and then taken downriver to Rotherhithe. Please also see the video we've produced of this memorable event. See more

HE DID IT. WE ALL DID IT. CONGRATULATIONS TEZ FOR BEING THE FIRST NOVICE* TO EVER COMPLETE THIS PACIFIC OCEAN CROSSING ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. We love you, you ar...e incredible. That's a wrap on the #unitedworldchallenge... FOR NOW! *EDIT: We've been informed by the Ocean Rowing Society that prior to Tez, one other person completed this row on their first attempt: Rob Eustace in 2015. Rob had also rowed the Atlantic in a pairs team in 2005, which makes Tez the first and only novice to row this route, and the only novice to complete it on their first attempt.

We have confirmed that the new legal limitations on groups sizes in response to COVID-19 do not apply to organised sport including rowing activities. Clubs should remain vigilant and consider how the new rules may affect other parts of their activities. Read more below

FROM OUR FRIENDS AT THE GREAT RIVER RACE Please support if you can. ... **CROWDFUNDING UPDATE** We have an extension please help us reach our target on the eve of the GRR 2020 Race that wasn’t!!! Dear Friends of the GRR, Your response and support to date has been amazing THANK YOU so much! We still have a ways to go but we have managed to get a further extension from the lovely team at Crowdfunder so please help us to reach our target. You can help us by donating NOW, no matter how small and by sharing this with your fellow crew members and fellow Race supporters - https://rb.gy/7nb3fj It would have been our 2020 Race tomorrow so normally at this time we would be running around like headless chickens, following up on boats being craned in at South Dock, sorting last minute bus changes, printing off everything we need for volunteers and registrations and just generally, dealing with the madness that is the final run up to the GRR, before rushing off mid-afternoon to start the pre-registrations at the campsite. Many of you would have been travelling as we speak, whilst others would already be settling down at the campsite or in your hotels, psyching yourselves up for the 21.6 mile challenge of London’s River Marathon. We love it and we will really miss seeing you all this weekend and dancing the night away with you to the beat of Smokey’s funky tunes and the fabulous rhythm and blues from Tony and the boys! Of course we must not forget our fabulous Dutch swing band Tartouffe, who keep you all entertained afloat during the Race and then play to the delighted crowds at the Finish. Johan we'll miss seeing you guys too! No blisters this year or tears of exhaustion and achievement but we hope you will have happy memories of Races past. So we will be thinking of you all wherever you are tomorrow - we wish good times ahead for everyone and hope to see you all at GRR 2021! Stay safe and well one & all! With much thanks Team GRR

I am casting for an E45 advert and we are looking for female rowers with a skin condition (eczema etc.) The ad will be well paid and will be a half or full day'...s filming in September (our team are trained under Covid filming guidelines). The ad will be a heartwarming campaign to show how people's skin conditions affect their everyday lives. Please direct message me if you or anyone you know are interested! Many thanks, Georgia

RETURN TO ROWING 29TH AUGUST Clarifying Statement on Fixed Seat Rowing British Rowing has clarified the schedule for a return to crew boat rowing for the... fixed seat and gig rowing community. British Rowing recommends that fixed seat and gig rowing clubs apply the advice set out in the ‘Coronavirus Advice - Returning to Rowing’ document. As with all clubs, the advice should be used to form an appropriate risk assessment for the local environment the club operates in. Clubs should base their return to crew boat rowing on the following timetable: Phase D - from 1 August - No boats with more than two rowers, no coxed boats Phase E - from 15 August - No boats with more than five individuals (this includes Cornish Pilot Gigs who attempt to row with lesser numbers) Phase F - from 29 August - All boats allowed. Particular considerations for fixed seat boats are: Wherever possible at least two metres should be maintained between individuals, however, where this is not possible during launching/lifting, mitigation's should be taken such as wearing face coverings. When in the boat, individuals should maintain the maximum distance possible and avoid face-to-face contact as much as possible e.g. avoid turning to speak to a crew member or stopping for prolonged periods. We are coming back #gigrowing #gigrower
