Wheels wheels wheels #potterywheelthrowing ...if you’ve been waiting on one we appreciate your patience - it’s been a challenging year for manufacturing in our industry. We’ve recently received approximately 70 wheels, with another 30 or so coming n the next few days. We’re now doing the inspections, testing and packing. If you have a @shimpo_ceramics on order it’s likely just left our facility or about to..@Bailey and @amacobrent will be shipping over the next few days, and @skuttwheels and #pacificawheels will be shipping next week.
Just in case you hadn’t heard... #freeshipping #potterywheels #pottery #ceramics #ceramicsofinstagram #potteryofinstagram #potterywheel #clayistheway
We were hacked!!! Arghh! A love hate relationship with technology continues. Tuckers does NOT send out direct messages via social media. If you’ve been contacted via IG from us directly in the last couple weeks, please note that it was not us at all, but rather a hacker who managed to compromise our account. We appear to have regained control of the account. If you have any questions, please send them to us via email.
The photo is far from exciting...unless you've been waiting for a Shimpo wheel from us. 46 wheels and a pugmill have just arrived :)....please be patient with us...we need to unpack every one of them, test them electrically, arrange inspection by ESA to ensure each and every one of them passes Canadian standards..and then box them up again. If you have a Shimpo on order with us, we'll be shipping it out by the end of the week.
There was so much chatter created by this post, we thought we'd let you know just who everyone is: Sean - showroom sales and inventory Kevin - assistant kiln builder Kaye - long time bookkeeper and secretary (who kept Frank in line, lol)... Frank Jimmy - head clay maker Gary - part time, handled kiln repairs etc Smitty - drove our delivery truck Dave - showroom, packing orders, shipping and receiving Paul - packing, shipping and receiving Michael - general labour who spent most of his time slugging 100 lbs bags for Jimmy, lol Missing - Kent...the man who designed just about every single part behind the original Cone Art kiln.
Oh how times have changed...found this old photo laying around...we're figuring it was likely 1985 at our previous location in Markham...back then the machinery we had could produce 5-6000 lbs of clay per day with 2 men...now one man makes 10,000 lbs per day...and at the time we had just 1 man building kilns and producing every little part one at a time...now many components are jobbed out to manufacturers and we have 7 men full time building kilns. The industry has changed ...a lot over the years..from mostly professionals in the 1970's and 1980's to now mostly serious hobbyists...but one thing that hasn't changed is the nature of the people. We are fortunate to be in an industry simply full of good folks that we enjoy doing business with. Maybe one "post Covid" day we'll do an "after" post with all the current staff :) .....Bonus points if you know the names of anyone in this picture ;) See more

Hey, what're those red machines amongst all the Brent and Shimpo wheels laid out for inspection? One's a Lehman Glaze Mixing and Dipping Machine, and the other's a Lehman Slip Casting Machine. Did you know we bring in all sorts of ceramic equipment? From drying cabinets to damp cabinets, wedging boards and ware carts...you name it. If there's something out there on your wish list, ask us for a quote :)

Well, we figured it was about time we had some more fun with a Guess the Makers contest. You all did such a great job with the last few that we decided we’d include a few head scratchers this time. As a hint, they span the last 30 years, and are all from North America. Most are Canadian, but a few are not. Thoroughly confused?lol. There are 10 pics this time. IF someone gets all 10, the first to do so will earn a $100 gift certificate. If that does not happen, the top 3 submissions, with ties broken by time submitted, will each earn a $50 gift certificate. #guessthemaker #tuckersclay #potterysupplies #clay #ceramics #readysetgo
