Did you discover expired or unused medication during your spring-cleaning efforts or Marie-Kondo tidying up during COVID isolation? We can help you dispose of it appropriately. Take all unwanted solid medications out of their original containers and place in a Zip-Lok bag. Remove patient names from original containers and recycle if possible. Drop off the Zip-Lok bag to any pharmacy and the pharmacy will ensure the medication is sent to a proper facility for destruction.

Every community is impacted by drug overdose. Each person who dies is connected to someone. We want to reduce stigma associated with substance use disorder, ensure treatment options are readily available, and increase access to naloxone kits. If you take prescription or recreational narcotics, or frequently spend time with someone who does, pick up a free naloxone kit from any pharmacy. https://www.overdoseday.com

Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in Canada. Indeed, almost 300,000 Canadians are blind from glaucoma and many others will have impaired vision. Various genes are linked to glaucoma. Therefore, if a member of your family has glaucoma, you may be a higher risk. Anyone over the age of 40 should be tested for glaucoma by an optometrist. This test is fast and painless. Further tests should be conducted based on the optometrist’s recommendation. Check out the Fighting Blindness Canada web page for more info: https://www.fightingblindness.ca Call your local optometrist to book a test.

We are proud to be involved in a special project to reduce medication burden for seniors in our community. Contact the pharmacy to make an appointment if you are 65 or over and are taking 5 or more medications if you would like to be involved in a review to assess whether your medications are right for you.
